Purpose of opportunity:
Barnardo's Triangle Project offers a range of activities and services within Crystal Palace, South East London. Based at the Triangle Centre the service will offer a retail outlet, pop-up café and soft play area. We are looking for volunteers to help supervise the soft play area. Parents and carers who bring children along to these sessions are expected to maintain the supervision of their children throughout the period that they use the play area. To assist this, we are hoping to recruit a pool of volunteers to support the supervision of the children and to build relationships with those who access this service. The play area is accessible for children up to the age of 6. This role would suit those who are retired and want to undertake some constructive activities in their local area, parents of young children who could benefit from more involvement in their community and/or young people who are studying health and social care qualifications and are keen to gain some experience.

Key activities:
Supervising the stay and play area. Interacting and building relationships with the parents, carers and children who attend.

To be kind and patient
Interest in children and families
Good communication skills
Reliability and good time keeping
Good organisational skills
Interest in children's play
Interest in building a new community resource
Volunteers should be reliable and flexible, and be able to keep in contact by responding to emails and calls from Barnardo's staff.

Training, support or other benefits available:
You will receive a full induction into the work of Barnardo¿s and our values.
There are four mandatory modules that volunteers are required to complete including safeguarding and health and safety. Role specific training will also be provided.
