Bath, Bath and North East Somerset (On-site)
Claverton Down, Bath and North East Somerset
Unpaid role
Voluntary
Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for two photographers to work with our Animal Care and Communications teams here at Bath Cats & Dogs Home. Your purpose will be to take attractive photos of our residents to help them find their forever homes and to use as stories to promote our charitable work both online and in publications such as our supporter newsletters. Our brand photography style is bright and clean, and has been featured in local media including Pukka Bath, the Bath Life Magazine, the Bath Chronicle and the Wiltshire Times.

If you are an experienced photographer with a love for animals and who would feel confident in a rescue environment, this could be the volunteer role for you! Please read on for details of how to apply.

About the Role

Photographing rescue animals is very different to pets, it takes much longer for them to relax in your presence, and they rarely can be posed. It’s challenging but rewarding, and you get to expand your experience of photographing different breeds and characters. This varied role will offer you behind the scenes insight into the work that we do and because of this, applicants should be aware that you may be asked to photograph animals currently being rehabilitated, which may be distressing.

If you are more of a 'cat person', or prefer dogs to people, please do apply as we need two photographers, one per team, to allow enough time for our residents to have their close-ups!

About You

You will be an experienced photographer who has worked with animals in the past. A caring and patient nature will be helpful as it can take time to earn the trust of rescue animals. You must be able to offer a few hours at the Home every 2 or 3 weeks, plus your editing time. Preferred days are Tuesday and Thursday, but we can discuss a day if this does not suit. Times can be between 11am-4pm, which is when the Animal Care team are available to assist.

How to Apply

All volunteers are required to complete online Health & Safety training prior to their start date. Due to insurance restrictions, all volunteers must be over the age of 18.

If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please complete an application form and we will then contact you to request a short portfolio or a link to your website.
