Job Description

Birmingham LGBT

Chair of the Board of Trustees

For almost twenty years, Birmingham LGBT has played a leading role in developing opportunities for LGBT individuals across the Greater Birmingham area and, over the last five years, has seen a process of rapid growth and expansion.

These are exciting times for one of the leading LGBT charities in the UK as we continue to deliver against an ambitious strategic plan, and ensure that Birmingham and the West Midlands is one of the best places in the country for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans people to live, work and socialise in.

Following the decision by our existing Chair to step down at our next AGM in November 2019, Birmingham LGBT’s Board of Trustees is seeking to appoint to the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees.

The Chair will hold the Board and the Director of Birmingham LGBT to account for the Charity’s mission and vision by providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each Trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the Charity (including delivering against its legal, regulatory and financial obligations).

The postholder will also act as a prominent and visible ambassador for the sector and the Charity, in partnership with the Director, to promote the work of the organisation and advocate for positive interventions for the LGBT community across Greater Birmingham.

For more information about this opportunity, role description, and person specification, please download the application pack.

The team at Reach Volunteering are supporting us during this recruitment process and completed applications or questions should be sent via Reach.

We will not close applications until we have a sufficient level of interest but do encourage anybody interested in the role to apply by 23 August 2019.
