Beckenham, Greater London
Job description

Our 93 year old member visited France regularly since before the WW2, where he served in the Royal Marines prior to a successful career in the Banking Industry.

Even though this high spirits veteran is close to his children and try to be as independent as possible, sometimes he feels a little lonely, so another face might help.

Our member is looking for a friendly, empathetic and patient volunteer who speaks French and likes to talk about France - a country so close to his heart. Also, a driver with own car to make outings easier.

If you think you can make the difference in this veteran’s life, we look forward to hearing from you.

By providing regular companionship, social interaction and building a positive one-to-one relationship you can help to reduce the effects of isolation so commonly experienced by our veterans. Your positivity, friendliness and communication can make the world of difference to their day lives.

Volunteers need to be over the age of 18 years and able to travel independently to and from our veterans home. Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness are essential requirements for this role as are good listening and interpersonal skills. As understanding of the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries is key to this role. We will give you the necessary training, induction and support to be confident and enjoy your volunteering.
