CAMDEN PSYCHOTHERAPY UNIT (CPU) - ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS
CPU is looking for volunteers who would like to help our charity to strengthen and develop its fundraising activities, and to build a firm financial base. We would welcome people who would want to become involved in an advisory capacity and to give any amount of time that they are able to do, be it a few hours or more.
Ora Dresner, Clinical Director & CEO would be delighted to hear from you and to answer any questions you may have.
THE WORK OF CAMDEN PSYCHOTHERAPY UNIT (CPU)
Camden Psychotherapy Unit (CPU) is a well-established and respected community based charity that has been in existence since 1969. We offer longer term free and low fee psychoanalytic psychotherapy to adults many of whom are on benefits or low income and whose emotional, social and economic backgrounds puts them amongst some of the most deprived in our community.
Since 1969 CPU was funded by the NHS. However, in December 2010 our entire funding was withdrawn. Since then, we have managed to remain open through vigorous fundraising. The importance and effectiveness of CPU has been acknowledged by Big Lottery Fund who has awarded a grant of £39,000 each year until 2018. However, we need a minimum of £130,000 a year to keep operating.
Our daily challenge is to keep raising enough money to ensure the clinic can continue to offer this essential help within our limited resources. Our aim is to continue to provide our clinical services whilst developing a more robust and steady funding base. The CEO and CPU staff are vigorously engaged in fundraising and have full support from the Trustees.
We very much look forward to hearing from you.
