Job description

People can be very lonely and isolated. BEfriend matches each trained and supported volunteer with a client to build a trusting and helpful relationship. This relationship will enable the client to regain trust and rebuild self-esteem.  Volunteers will work alongside clients to rediscover old interests and discover new ones and to help them re-engage with their communities.

Skills and abilities needed:-

  • Empathy
  • Compassion
  • Good people skills
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • reliable and punctual
  • Ability to work alone and enjoy one-to-one work
  • Understanding of and willingness to work within the BEfriend framework, following all policies and procedures

Time commitment: One and a half to two hours per week for a year
