How to apply
We are looking for a reliable person (or persons) to manage our Feline Forum. Your role is to keep our forum running smoothly, to fulfil its purpose of offering advice and support to the public, on all cat-related queries… This is a voluntary position, working online, from home, on a flexible hours basis (ideal job-share).
Our friendly Feline Forum offers help, support and advice to the public on a wide range of cat-related issues, from rescue and rehoming to health & behaviour, bereavement support, lost & found and much more. If you want to help people and their cats, this is the role for you!
A diplomatic, level-headed, non-judgemental person, with a good knowledge of cat rescue & welfare. Applicants must be fully computer literate and have an excellent command of English. Experience with forums / communicating with the public preferred.
You will have overall control of Forum content, so will need to monitor posts daily on your period of cover. You will be required to post in an advisory capacity where needed, replying to any queries which have had no response from other Forum users. Mainly this involves offering good advice, and posting links to the main sections on the Cat Chat site, i.e. Shelter listings / Cats Needing Homes / Lost & Found Advice etc. (draft replies provided). You will also be responsible for moderating, moving or ‘locking' threads where needed, plus archiving or deleting old threads, and banning / deleting bogus or spam user accounts. Guidelines and support provided.
This role is ideal as a job-share between two volunteers, each covering half of the week. You would be required to login at least once on your days of cover. Time needed is averagely up to 1 hour on your rota’d days.
Cat Chat is a friendly, fully inclusive team. Applicants must be 18 or over and resident in the UK or Ireland. Two references will be required from shortlisted applicants.
