Job Description

Parentline is a lifeline for all families, offering a kind and skilled listening ear for parents and carers across Scotland. We have time for anyone concerned for a child. We build relationships with parents and carers, always keeping children at the centre but being mindful of the challenges to families today. Our team of staff and volunteers are trauma sensitive and knowledgeable in child development and work alongside callers to prevent stress increasing in families.

Helpline volunteers listen to anyone concerned for a child, offer up to date quality information and advice on the things that matter to families and their children, through our website, helpline, and webchat and text chat facilities.

A caring, kind, sensitive and non-judgmental response can make a real difference to someone who wants to talk. No previous experience or formal qualifications are necessary, but good language skills are essential to enable you to listen to and support parents and carers who contact the helpline. Trained staff are always on hand to provide support and guidance.
