Solidarity Circles for Disability, LGBT+, Racial Justice, and Women were launched in September 2023 as part of the Strategy for Justice, Dignity and Solidarity. We hope to start 2 new Solidarity Circles – one for Carers and one for Rural Communities in September 2024.

Solidarity Circles are online meetings for the Methodist Church to support people in different diversities of the Church’s life to meet regularly, to support one another and to raise with relevant Church leaders the concerns that need to be addressed. These circles act as consultative groups for the work of the Methodist Church and are supported and led by a volunteer coordinator.

Each Solidarity Circle is formed of up to 15 members who are appointed for one, two or three years with up to five new members recruited each year to ensure a diversity of views and experience are heard.

The Family Works is an exciting trauma-informed, early intervention family support programme working across South Yorkshire. It equips workers and local volunteers to support families in their communities, families who may be isolated, lonely, vulnerable, or struggling to cope, across the whole of South Yorkshire. We provide support though relation-based services working to see the tide of family breakdown turn, to see children who are loved and cared for prosper and family relationships that are constructive instead of destructive and damaging.

We are now recruiting for Family Mentors to join our dedicated team. Family Mentors are trained volunteers who can work with the family by listening to them in a non-judgemental way and helping them gain the support they need to make changes, find solutions to their challenges and bring new hope into their lives.

The role involves working closely with a Link Worker, offering one to one listening support for a family, for one hour per week and supervision for one hour, over a period of 12 months.

In late 2023, the Cathedral adopted a new governance structure under the Cathedrals Measure 2021 and became a registered charity in March 2024.  All members of Chapter are now charity trustees.

We are looking for new trustees, including a Senior Non-Executive Member (SNEM) who are willing to build on the commitment, enthusiasm and energy of current members who are nearing the end of their terms of office and continue to broaden the diversity of thinking in Chapter.

While we are not looking for any specific skill set, successful candidates must be able to demonstrate that they have the experience and skills necessary for working at board level. 

The SNEM is appointed by the Bishop following advice from the Nominations Committee and the successful candidate for this role will have experience of chairing board or similar level meetings..

As a non-executive trustee, your role will be vital  in the oversight of the management and administration of the Cathedral and in ensuring that the Vision and Strategy formed in 2020 is being effectively delivered and developed as we head towards our Centenary in 2027.  Working collaboratively with other trustees you will give strategic direction to the Cathedral, set overall policy, define goals and evaluate outcomes.

Portsmouth Cathedral, the Cathedral of the Sea, has been the seat of the Bishop of Portsmouth since the creation of the Diocese of Portsmouth in 1927.  It has a distinctive history and role in a great maritime city, and serves a diverse diocese that stretches from the Isle of Wight to East Hampshire.

The successful candidates will be either a communicant member of the Church of England, or of a church with which it is in communion and an enhanced DBS check will be required.  A full induction programme and ongoing training in offered to enable members to deliver their responsibilities.

Position Overview:
The Spiritual Arts Foundation is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Charity Administrator / Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of charity law and regulations in the UK, along with extensive practical experience in setting up charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), and Companies Limited by Guarantee (CLGs). In addition to possessing exceptional organizational and project management skills, the candidate should also have a genuine interest in spiritual subjects and a passion for making a difference in the world.

Responsibilities:

You will be required to:

• Provide expert guidance and support in the setup and registration of charities, CICs, and CLGs, ensuring compliance with relevant UK legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Consult with our legal team on the preparation of legal documentation, including governing documents, constitutions, and articles of association.
• Assist in the establishment of appropriate governance structures, and work with our HR team regarding the recruitment and training of trustees and board members.
• Assist our management and accounting teams to choose optimal bank accounts and obtain the necessary financial services for new charitable entities.
• Consult with our fundraising team to help implement our strategies for fundraising, donor engagement, and income generation.
• Offer strategic advice on staffing requirements, recruitment processes, and employment contracts.
• Help us to identify potential risks and opportunities associated with charity setup and operation.
• Keep abreast of changes in charity law, regulations, and best practices, and ensure that organizational policies and procedures remain up to date.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to achieve organizational objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven experience in setting up charities, CICs, or CLGs in the UK, including a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.
• Knowledge of charity law, tax regulations, governance principles, and financial management practices.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment, fostering a culture of trust and respect.

This will involve emailing church leaders, providing database support, booking hotels and flights, organising events, PowerPoint presentations, zoom meetings, liaising with both our Fundraising and Marketing Officers, inputting financial data into a spreadsheet, and producing reports.

ETS is based in Peterborough, but we expect any applicant to work from home/remote (hybrid) and attend meetings over zoom. We will only interview applicants who are UK based. There may be occasional team meetings at Allia Business Centre, Peterborough, but traveling costs will be reimbursed along with other approved expenses.

This is a new opportunity to work alongside CMF's Accountant to undertake regular administrative financial tasks.

Our volunteer Finance Assistant will assist the accountant with tasks such as processing bank transfer requests, ensuring accounts software is up to date and accurate, and preparing financial reports.

We long to see our healthcare system and our nations transformed through the lives of those who are living and speaking for him.

The Paristamen Charity is a small grant-making charity. Most of our grants provide unrestricted support a wide range of small charities across Scotland.  We typically award £50k - £60k grants/year, though this is likely to increase slightly in the coming years.

We are seeking someone with broad experience in the voluntary sector to join us as a trustee - this would be a great opportunity for a fundraiser who wishes to get some experience from the other side of the table - assessing applications and making decisions as a grant-maker.

We operate with a small board of four trustees - one of the existing trustees is now stepping down and we are thus looking to appoint a new trustee for three years 2024-27.  Trustee meeting take place three times a year in Dunbar or Edinburgh.

Our objects include the advancement of the Christian faith so some experience of the church sector would be helpful.  However, this is only one aspect - the majority of our grants are awarded to a broad range of charities working in fields such as poverty, homelessness, health, prisoners and refugees.

Do you have a desire to help vulnerable women grow into a life in which they feel safe, free, whole and capable? 

At Rahab we work towards seeing the lives of at risk and vulnerable women affected by prostitution and trafficking transformed, supporting those who are sexually exploited with unconditional acceptance, compassion and dignity to rebuild their lives and achieve their own identity and freedom. We provide learning and development opportunities for women to engage in and offer a supportive environment as they explore ways to self-determine their onward journey.

We are a dedicated team of professionals, facilitating casework support, counselling, wellbeing and learning. As a Rahab volunteer, you will gain valuable and unique insight into not only our work but also some of the wider factors that contribute to the exploitation and abuse of women in and across London. Your contribution 

We are looking for Volunteers for a range of activities including befriending, pastoral care, outreach, teaching ESL, casework, admin and counselling. It’s an exciting time to join our team as we are implementing steps to expand our work to support more women.

We need volunteers who are willing to help, with a caring approach and sensitivity to the challenges involved in this work. All volunteers will receive training. Volunteer Counsellors must be qualified to a minimum of Level 5 Diploma or Degree level and be a member of the ACC, BACP or UKCP, and will receive supervision.

Please note that commencement of volunteer activities is dependent on placement and necessary onboarding for specific roles. 

Time committment will vary for each placement, dependent on requirements, but generally this would be between 5 to 10 hours per month.

Voluntary Business Development Officer (part time)

We are looking for a person of faith who can identify with our aims and has some experience with business development or sales. Although this is a voluntary position, we anticipate that this role will be salaried at some point in the future.

This role will be our first contact to many Pastors and Leaders in both the UK and to other English-speaking Nations. The role will involve reaching out to Churches to promote our discipleship and evangelism training. This will be by targeted emails, letters, and phone calls, which will be backed up and supported by our Social Media and Fundraising Officers.

ETS is based in Peterborough, and we expect any applicant to work from home/remote (hybrid) along with attending meetings over zoom. We will only interview applicants who are UK based. There may be occasional team meetings at Allia Business Centre, Peterborough, but traveling costs will be reimbursed, along with phone calls and other approved expenses.

Across the decades, Christians in Media has adapted to an ever-changing media landscape. In recent years, we have created opportunities for our community to connect with each other and pray for Christians working in, and with, media; equipped young people through our Mentoring Programme; developed a regional hub model and launched the Faith in Media podcast.

We are looking for a friendly face to help staff the Yeldall Manor reception desk for a few hours each week.

The role entails being the first point of contact for telephone callers, visitors and residents, welcoming and redirecting their queries/calls as appropriate. You will be comfortable using a computer in order to send emails, access the diary and assist with basic admin tasks, although there may also be times with less to do.

The role includes a lot of client contact, so you will have daily contact with those men whom you are helping. They inspire and motivate us just as much as we seek to encourage and support them. As part of this, we ask that all our staff and volunteers help support the residents by interacting with them and encouraging them in their recovery and spiritual growth, and so ask that you will have a committed Christian faith yourself.

Yeldall Manor is set in the Berkshire countryside, about three miles from Twyford station. Lunch is provided with fellow staff and resident.
