Job Description

Community Fundraising Volunteer

The Community One Stop Shop exists to support the residents of West Edinburgh and to help alleviate the effects of poverty.

We worked with over 3000 people last year through our services which include Advice Provision, Foodbank and Employability Support.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate volunteer to identify and create fundraising opportunities for us such as bucket collections and challenge events like the Kiltwalk! We also would love your much needed help behind the scenes with admin duties relating to fundraising- all of which will help our supportive team in reaching our fundraising goals!


- Identify, create and organize fundraising events

- Research grant/funding opportunities

- Create calendar of potential street collections

- Identify events that may support COSS

- Contact companies that may allow use of collection baskets

- Identify trusts/donors that could support COSS

- Write beneficiary case studies for applications

- Coordinate the receipt and acknowledgement of donations

- Fundraising communications including social media

- Approaching individuals and companies for sponsorships and donations

- Manage the allocation and return of collection baskets

Person Specification:

- Fundraising experience and knowledge of the voluntary sector

- Excellent communication skills including public engagement

- Reliability

- Research ability

- Strong IT skills

- Organised

- Use of initiative and able to work with minimal supervision

- Calm under pressure and deadlines

- Flexible approach and adaptable

- Can work in a challenging environment


6 hours a week- 3 hours in the office and 3 hours based at home
