 About Conflict and Change

Conflict and Change is a voluntary organisation with over 30 years experience in building bridges of understanding within and between communities in Newham, East London, one of the most diverse areas of the United Kingdom. 

After a period of challenges and reflection, we are looking for new Trustees to help drive the organisation forward and support the need for community mediation post the Pandemic. 

Conflict and Change have provided a community mediation service to residents and workers in the borough of Newham and surrounding areas for over 30 years. We do not take sides or decide on what action should be taken, but help the parties involved in the dispute work towards a realistic solution acceptable to all involved. 

Mediation is voluntary and a confidential process. Mediation can prevent a situation from escalating into a more serious dispute.  

Conflict and Change has also delivered Training Programmes and Community Development workshops to local organisations, community groups and residents, and works with; neighbours, community groups, business, police, ASB units or any place requiring conflict resolution

We are currently in the process of our Website Restructure where you will be able to read more about some of our projects, and upcoming events. 

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to help expand our existing Trustee Board to bring fresh, innovative and realistic ideas to the organisation and take things forward.

As well as looking for trustees with specific skills, we are also interested in recruiting trustees who have good overall general knowledge, have an interest in the service we offer and may also have in-depth knowledge about the local community.

Specific Roles


Will oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.

Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.

Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation. Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.

Business Development Lead

Will play a crucial role in the progress and development of the organization, setting goals for the organisation and developing strategies to meet those goals.

Main Purpose of the Trustee Board

The Board of Trustees will work as a team and meet monthly for the business development overview, attend the AGM and other events linked to the development and growth of the organisation. 

To support the organisation and ensure it delivers it objectives and complies with charity and company law and other relevant legislation or regulations.
