Wickford, Essex
Voluntary
Job description

Drop in on Gordon and brighten up his week

Our member, Gordon, is 90 years old and lives alone with his cat in Wickford, Essex. Gordon is looking for a male befriender to come over for a visit as he often feels lonely at home and would enjoy the chance to have a chat over a cup of tea. Gordon used to be a musician but due to his sight loss is now unable to play many of the instruments he used to. He has a great love of music from the Beatles, to film scores and musicals. He also used to enjoy drawing and painting and specialised in Aviation Art drawing his inspiration from his time in the RAF painting scenes of aircraft in warfare. One subject he is not so keen on is football though!

Gordon communicates with clear speech and uses a white stick whilst out of the house although he doesn't need guiding. He is simply seeking a friendly, chatty person to come over a have a drink with him some time on either a Tuesday or Thursday. No experience is required just a positive attitude and the desire to get to know someone. Even if these days aren't convenient, please do get in touch as we are always looking for Home Befrienders to pay a visit to our members many of whom are lovely and cut off from their local communities.
