Job description

Make a difference today!

Brighten up Julia's week with a visit and a chat

Our member Julia is 93 years old and lives alone in the Wrexham area. She has very little vision and can only make out shadows due to Macular Degeneration and is registered blind. Julia lost her husband four years ago and moved to her supported flat in Wrexham last year. She was originally from Yorkshire but has spent most of her life in North Wales, firstly in Rhyl then in the Wrexham area. Julia enjoyed a career in accountancy for many years and then for the Milk Marketing Board based in Wrexham. She loves music, mainly classical and listens to audio books and has always been a member of various amateur dramatics groups. This was a huge passion of hers and something she got involved with wherever she lived.

Julia would particularly like a volunteer to visit her at home for some company and a chat as she doesn’t get out so much now due to her dual sensory loss. She has led an interesting life and loves to talk and would benefit so much from a regular visit from a friendly, chatty befriender. Julia communicates with clear speech but  isn’t able to walk very far but if she could only be accompanied outside in the local area she would be very grateful. She uses a stick to help her get around and would require guiding should she ever go out and full guiding training will be given.

Ideally, Julia is looking for someone to visit any time on a Monday or Tuesday - could you spare a couple of hours a week and make a huge difference to her life?

No experience is required simply a warm heart and the ability to chat and listen. Apply today.....
