Job description

The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position in our London Office. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months starting from August 2017.

The selected candidate will work within the SDG2 Advocacy Hub, an initiative that aims to bring together NGOs, campaigners, civil society, the private sector and UN agencies to coordinate campaigns and advocacy to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the SDG2 Advocacy community across NGO, UN and Private sector to engage effectively through great content for social media
  • Develop & design generic content on food, agriculture and nutrition for promotion of SDG2
  • Support the establishment of the SDG2 Advocacy Hub digital platform as a junior editor.
  •  Help to set up and manage the development of the News section, Directory, Calendar and Action hub
  • Support the coordinator as required in day to day tasks, meetings and events
  • Taking Actions and notes for the record/ Setting up and manging calendar and bookings/ Reporting on activity and outcomes

Skills & Experience

  • Photoshop & Canva experience preferred
  • Ability to write and edit engaging content for different audiences
  • Experience building content and pages in Drupal
  • Competent on Microsoft office
  • Social Media asset creation
  • Writing and editing Blog articles
  • Global Development understanding
  • Understanding of Advocacy and particularly Social Campaigning
  • Measuring effectiveness of digital engagement (desirable)
  • Awareness of trends in Food Sector (desirable)
  • Second language (desirable)

Essential Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 12 months;
  • Fluent in English.
