Job description

Garden Volunteer (clearance tasks)

One-off Thursday

RHS Garden Bridgewater, Worsley New Hall, Off Leigh Road, Worsley, M28 2LJ

Unpaid

The RHS is developing the former grounds of Worsley New Hall which was demolished in the 1940s. This will create a fifth garden for the RHS, the first phase of which will be open to the public in summer 2020. We have achieved a great deal with the help of volunteers over the past two and a half years and are now planning work up to the opening of the garden.

We’re looking for volunteers who would like to come and help for a one-off volunteering opportunity. These volunteering days take place on Thursdays. During the next stage of the garden development, the work will include cutting back and burning overgrown plants, ground clearance, and soil preparation for planting. On Thursdays we’ll need around 10 different people each week, who have real enthusiasm for the RHS Garden Bridgewater project, to help with this work.

Applicants should have a keen interest in the project, be physically fit enough to spend a day undertaking repetitive physical work, including digging and bending, and not mind working outside in all weathers.
