In 2016, we set out on a mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by MCAS. Mast Cell Action is more than a charity; it's a movement, a community, and a collective voice that echoes the needs and concerns of those we serve. We provide support to the MCAS Community and work to raise awareness and understanding of MCAS amongst relevant professionals and organisations. Our dedication to the MCAS community extends far beyond words; it's at the heart of everything we do.
We provide support in multiple ways and are led by the voice of the MCAS community. Through virtual sessions, supportive resources, and awareness-raising activities, we are here for everyone in the UK living with MCAS. Our driving force is the profound desire to improve the lives of everyone affected by MCAS. We are deeply committed to standing by the side of the mast cell disease community, their families and dedicated doctors. We don't merely hope for change; we actively work to create it.
Our vision is bold and unwavering: a world where every person affected by Mast Cell Disease is not only heard but truly understood. We envision a world where their symptoms are acknowledged, leading to accurate diagnoses and, most importantly, the compassionate care and support they need and deserve.
At Mast Cell Action, we believe in the power of community, the strength of passion, and the boundless potential of collective action. We invite you to join us on this incredible journey, whether you're someone touched by MCAS, a dedicated healthcare professional, or just someone who shares our enthusiasm for making the world a better place for those affected by mast cell diseases. Together, we can transform this vision into reality.
Our mission:
To provide support for all those affected by Mast Cell Activation Disorders
To bring the MCAS community together with one unified voice
To work with the medical community to help ensure patients with MCAS receive the best care possible
To promote increased research into conditions related to mast cell activation
To lobby for universal awareness, diagnosis and treatment of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome
To educate the wider community, helping to reduce stigma and improve lives for those living with MCAS
Mast Cell Action's vision is of a world where everyone affected by Mast Cell Disease has their symptoms acknowledged and experiences listened to, to achieve a correct diagnosis, and to receive the care and support that they need.
Our charitable objective is to improve the lives of people affected by Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.

Why am I needed?
Our shops depend on a regular supply of quality donated stock. As some shops receive more donations than others, we need drivers to move stock between our shops to ensure they are all fully stocked.
Our fantastic supporters rely on stock donations being collected from their door when they are unable to bring it to us. Here at Tenovus Cancer Care we receive donated stock in many different ways, and this includes us collecting stock from supporters at their front door and picking up collections from local business partners.
All of this vital work needs to happen for us to raise more money to help cancer patients and their families.
What will I be doing?
Dependant on your volunteer location, duties may include but may not be limited to:
Predominantly assisting the Retail team in moving stock between shops
Taking this donated stock to shops and to the Warehouse
Delivering donation bags to homes in selected areas and collecting the full bags on an agreed day
Collecting donations at businesses where our ‘Donation Stations’ are located
Offering feedback to the Retail team on how to improve the collections service.
What skills and qualities do I need?
An enthusiasm for the work of Tenovus Cancer Care
A good level of fitness and enjoy being outside
Good communication skills to be able to respond positively with any queries from members of the pubic
Reliability, honesty and like helping as part of a team
This role would suit a proactive and outgoing person who enjoys meeting with others
The ability to drive and have a good size car or van is essential for the driving role if based at one of our shops. You will need to check with your car insurers that you are insured for business use before starting with us (this can usually be arranged at no extra cost) and your driving licence and business insurance will need to be checked before you can start.

Actively Interviewing

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.
We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.
We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.
New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.
