Finance Volunteer Roles

We are looking for a team player, who is able to support our board to grow the charity over the next few years. Our aim is to break down barriers which prevent people accessing the arts – as well as enriching our community with our workshops, community events and gallery space. We are a passionate and dedicated team in need of support embedding new procedures, strategies and development plans to help the charity grow. We welcome hand-on trustees who wish to come and help at workshops and events, but this is not expected or a requirement of the role.

If you have a background in any of the following it would be very useful for our board: charity experience, marketing and communications, human resources, inclusion and diversity and/or finance. Previous trustee experience is not necessary and we are actively seeking applications from all ages and backgrounds. Having a board with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences will enable SCIP to improve decision making to be more inclusive whilst having better understandings of potential barriers people have experience accessing arts.  SCIP are focused on working with people who share our vision and values.

Tannery Arts is entering an exciting stage of its journey having recently moved into new premises in the heart of Bermondsey, London; we are looking for new Trustees with the right skills, experience and enthusiasm to join our Board. Our Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Tannery Arts achieves its vision. The Spiritual Arts Foundation is a unique UK arts organisation dedicated to promoting the spiritual exploration of artistic expression. Position Overview:
The Spiritual Arts Foundation is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Charity Administrator / Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of charity law and regulations in the UK, along with extensive practical experience in setting up charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), and Companies Limited by Guarantee (CLGs). In addition to possessing exceptional organizational and project management skills, the candidate should also have a genuine interest in spiritual subjects and a passion for making a difference in the world.

Responsibilities:

You will be required to:

• Provide expert guidance and support in the setup and registration of charities, CICs, and CLGs, ensuring compliance with relevant UK legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Consult with our legal team on the preparation of legal documentation, including governing documents, constitutions, and articles of association.
• Assist in the establishment of appropriate governance structures, and work with our HR team regarding the recruitment and training of trustees and board members.
• Assist our management and accounting teams to choose optimal bank accounts and obtain the necessary financial services for new charitable entities.
• Consult with our fundraising team to help implement our strategies for fundraising, donor engagement, and income generation.
• Offer strategic advice on staffing requirements, recruitment processes, and employment contracts.
• Help us to identify potential risks and opportunities associated with charity setup and operation.
• Keep abreast of changes in charity law, regulations, and best practices, and ensure that organizational policies and procedures remain up to date.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to achieve organizational objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven experience in setting up charities, CICs, or CLGs in the UK, including a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.
• Knowledge of charity law, tax regulations, governance principles, and financial management practices.

Signals is a registered charity, established 35 years ago. It specialises in filmmaking and digital arts for social, learning and creative outputs. Signals works across the region but with a focus on Essex.

Signals works with children, young people, artists and community groups supporting creativity and learning at all levels. Signals is committed to increasing equal access to digital and creative experiences.  Signals vision is to positively impact peoples’ lives by encouraging creativity, developing skills and raising aspirations through creative digital production and education.  This work is increasingly relevant in supporting those left behind in a digital age.

Current projects include working with local migrant communities, disability groups and communities in Harwich.

About the opportunity

We are seeking up to four new trustees to join our board. After a period of significant change in 2023, we are seeking innovative and experienced individuals as we enter a new and exciting period for our world-leading charity. ·Digital and Technological Innovation – we are seeking support from an individual with a strong background in tech/digital, with the skills, knowledge, and expertise to advise and guide us on our programme of digital transformation.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kempton Great Engines Trust as we embark on an ambitious programme to showcase Kempton’s vital role in supplying much of London’s water. 

Kempton Great Engines Trust is the governing body for Kempton Steam Museum, the home of the world’s largest working triple-expansion steam engine. The Trust supports day-to-day operations and drives the ongoing development of the museum as a successful and sustainable visitor attraction.

We have plans to expand the museum’s activities with new facilities for visitors and volunteers and the new Treasurer will play a vital role in shaping the approach to financial management in support of these new developments. You will chair the Finance Committee and attend Trustee Meetings, which are normally held every other month on a Tuesday evening at the museum in South West London.

The Treasurer oversees the financial operations of the organisation, working closely with the Bookkeeper. You will also ensure that legal and regulatory requirements are met in conjunction with the Company Secretary and Chair.

We are looking for someone who has the experience to advise the other trustees on financial matters, take a strategic approach to financial forward planning, produce an annual budget and management accounts and play an active part in the decision making of the board of trustees. A qualification in accountancy or equivalent senior level experience in financial management is required and experience of charities and governance would be advantageous.

Job Description:

The Photographic Collections Network (PCN) is seeking an interim Treasurer with expertise in accountancy and/or charity finance and reporting to join our board of Trustees. 

We are on the journey to becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), and this will bring great opportunities for us to expand our reach and provide support for the UKs photographic collections and heritage. We are looking for people to help us to build this potential so we can better deliver on our aims. Are you the person that can help lead this change?

Counterpoints Arts is a leading national organisation working at the intersection of arts, migration and social change. For 11 years, Counterpoints Arts has been at the vanguard of cultural commissioning and practice, supporting and producing the arts by and about migrants and refugees, ensuring that their contributions are recognized and welcomed within British arts, history and culture.

The range of Counterpoints Arts’ work has grown considerably since it was founded in 2012 and we are now seeking a new Treasurer with a strong financial background and the skills and experience that will complement those of existing Board members. We are particularly interested in recruiting someone whose values align with the charity's mission and overall team culture.

Counterpoints Arts aims to attract and retain talented people from all backgrounds to its Board of Trustees. About the role

The role of the Trustee Treasurer is to maintain oversight at Board level of Counterpoints Arts’ finances, and is primarily a governance and strategic role that does not involve any day-to-day involvement in bookkeeping. Please note that this is an unpaid role, with travel expenses covered.

Responsibilities:

• Contributing updates alongside other Trustees and the Director at quarterly meetings
• Supporting the Director with review of monthly management accounts and presenting financial reports at each meeting
• Leading on key policies at Board level, where relevant, for example the Reserves policy / Anti-Fraud policy
• Leading on risk management and reporting at each meeting
• Ensuring correct review and sign off of year end accounts and that accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies
• Acting as a signatory for other relevant forms, such as grant agreements
• Keeping the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities
• Sitting on recruitment and disciplinary panels, as needed
• Be available to provide ad hoc support and guidance outside of quarterly Board meetings and in exceptional circumstances, as needed

Essential Requirements:

• Alignment with and a commitment to the aims, overall mission and culture/values of Counterpoints Arts
• Experience in a senior role, for example Operations Director or similar in the private, public or not for profit sector
• A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the Board and to advocate for Counterpoints Arts’ vision and programme
• An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
• An openness to share with Counterpoints Arts your extended expertise, pathways and networks

Time Commitment
