ILP is an ambitious charity, currently going through an exciting period of development and growth. We are looking for a qualified accountant to act as treasurer and support our work by ensuring effective governance and financial management.
What will you be doing?
The role of the Treasurer is to maintain effective governance of ILP, ensure financial viability and ensure that the proper processes and procedures exist to maintain all financial records, decisions and delegations.
Key Responsibilities are set out on the attached document but include:
1. Strategic
- Advise on the implementation of ILP’s strategy and resources required;
2. Financial
- Advise the Board on financial matters;
- Present financial reports to the Board;
- Oversee the preparation of management accounts, annual budget and annual accounts;
- Support for recruitment of staff responsible for financial matters;
- Liaise with relevant professional advisors;
- Advise on financial policies and accounting procedures and controls;
- Support the Executive Director and other staff on some day-to-day financial duties.
3. Governance
- Ensure the charity is carrying out its purpose for the public benefit in accordance with the charity’s governing document and the law;
- Ensure financial stability and the proper investment of charity funds;
The expected time commitment is 4 hours per month including attendance at quarterly Board meetings either at our London office or virtually. The term of office is 3 years, serving a maximum of 3 consecutive terms. The role is unpaid although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
What are we looking for?

- Fully qualified chartered accountant or equivalent qualification with charity or similar accounting experience;
- Demonstrable skills in analysing financial proposals and accounts, and examining their consequences;

South Uist Renewable Energy Ltd (“SURE”) is seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director for a fixed term of three years.
SURE operates a 6.9MW windfarm on behalf of the community of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. The existing board members are democratically elected by the community and this new appointment represents the first board vacancy that is also open to non-residents on a co-opted basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a windfarm expert to join the SURE board at a pivotal time. Upon appointment, the new Non-Executive Director will meet with the Chief Executive and the management team for a comprehensive induction into the operations of the business.
Standard duties of board membership apply to this role and the collective SURE Board:
- Set the strategic direction of the company
- Protect and enhance the financial performance of the company to maximise the contribution to the wider group of companies
- Focus on risk management and mitigating activity that can be implemented
- Ensure good governance
- Attend quarterly board meetings in South Uist (costs of travel and accommodation will be paid for by SURE)

What SURE is looking for:
- An individual from a corporate background with extensive senior management experience
- Operational expertise in large windfarm projects (≥ 6.9MW), with direct experience of PPA negotiations, insurance policies, fault monitoring and maintenance contracts
- Experience in the windfarm repowering process would be a distinct advantage
- A qualified accountant or someone experienced in providing financial insight at strategic level
- An individual with 10+ years of board level experience

The Quality of Life Foundation was established in 2019 by Prof. Sadie Morgan OBE. Its vision is for a housing system that improves people’s quality of life in their homes and neighbourhoods over the long term.

The Role
The role of the Trustees is to set the organisation’s strategic direction, monitor the delivery of its objectives, and uphold its values and governance. The board will also guide, advise and support the Chair, who leads the delivery team towards achieving the Foundation’s vision and purpose.
For this role, we are specifically looking for someone with a finance background and existing or previous experience in charity finance and governance to work with existing trustees to oversee the financial matters of the charity in line with good practice and the legal obligations of the Charities Act.
The appointed trustee will sit on the Finance, Governance and Risk sub-committee and work with the Foundation’s Director and other trustees to update the board at regular intervals about the financial position of the Quality of Life Foundation and its trading subsidiary, QOLF Trading Ltd. Teenage Helpline is an online peer-to-peer mentoring service for young people. We can act as the first stepping-stone for young people who do not feel comfortable seeking support for themselves, or who need a listening ear to help them cope with personal issues.

Ridgegate Home was established in 1946. It is a charitable 23 bed residential care home for the elderly. It is a large, detached period building. The home is administered by a Board of Governors, who have an active role in running the home.
What will you be doing?

Managing risk and enhancing trust and confidence in policing
The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Thames Valley and the Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police (TVP) are seeking an exceptional individual to join their Audit and Risk Committee known as JIAC (Joint Independent Audit Committee).
This is a unique opportunity managing risk in England’s largest non-metropolitan police force, at a time of strategic growth and change.

The purpose of JIAC is to provide independent advice, assurance and recommendations to the PCC and the Chief Constable on matters of risk, governance and fiduciary responsibility.
The Committee provides a vital added layer of confidence which not only works to ensure that Thames Valley Police has efficient and effective assurance arrangements in place but also helps to assure the public that both TVP and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner are well-run and financially sound, building public trust and confidence in local policing.
In recent years JIAC has looked at how TVP improves critical processes including, ensuring safety in custody; ensuring fairness in interactions with the public; conducting thorough investigations with the right justice outcomes; managing cyber and information risk as well as engaging in the full breadth of financial control.
As a JIAC member, you will act as a “critical friend” bringing challenge in a constructive way. It is a stimulating and interesting role, and an opportunity to contribute significantly to society.
Candidates are required to be over the age of 18, and live or work in the Thames Valley area and be able to attend meetings at TVP Headquarters, Kidlington during the working day. The successful candidate will be subject to a police vetting check. Serving police officers or police staff are not eligible for this role and members must be politically neutral.

The successful applicant will receive training and expenses for travelling to TVP Headquarters. We are on the journey to becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), and this will bring great opportunities for us to expand our reach and provide support for the UKs photographic collections and heritage.
