We are looking for volunteers to join our Complementary Therapy team and donate their time and professional skills as a therapist to support our hospice patients. This role will make a huge difference to the lives of those requiring end-of-life care. Examples of the complementary therapies we are looking to offer may include Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, Hypnotherapy, Massage (Holistic/Indian Head /Remedial), Reflexology, Reiki, Yoga and Relaxation Techniques, and the HEARTS Process.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Provide a rounded approach to patients and their families to ensure the highest quality of care is given
- Be aware of patients’ diagnosis, treatment and care before giving complementary therapies
- Able to adapt a therapy, when required
- Keep to the code of ethics and practice laid down by the governing body of the therapy and to Marie Curie’s policy for complementary therapists
- Continue your professional development to refine or learn new skills
- Attend any relevant or training sessions held by the Day Care Unit or Hospice
What skills or experience do you need?
- A recognised diploma or degree level qualification
- Registration with a recognised professional body with the relevant code of practice
- Your own professional indemnity insurance cover of £1 million
- A minimum of one year’s experience of professional practice
- Very good interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to deal sensitively in providing therapies
- An understanding of the needs of those requiring end-of-life care
- Reliability and a commitment to not letting patients down
- Discretion and an awareness of the importance of confidentiality

Our charity shops rely on generous donations made by the public to raise crucial funds for Marie Curie. From clothes, homeware and books, to CDs and DVDs, we sell a wide variety of products.
We are looking for volunteers to help us sort through all these donations, pick out the best items and prepare and sell them to our customers. Without the help of our dedicated volunteers we could not provide our customers with high quality items at affordable prices. This allows us to raise funds so our nurses can continue to provide care to terminally ill people and support for their families.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Sort through donations, being aware of the possibility of a hidden gem and better quality brands
- Prepare items for sale by checking, hanging, steaming, sizing and pricing them
- Work on the shop floor and provide excellent customer service to our shoppers
- Operate the till
- Help out with basic housekeeping to keep the shop clean and tidy

We are looking for a volunteer with lived experience of Mental health to use their valuable insights to support other. This role aligns with the visions of Mind CHWF, The Wellbeing Network and Peer Pathway.
You will contact residents who have made a referral to the Wellbeing Network but are not eligible for our core service. This means that more people seeking support will be contacted, leaving less people facing their challenges alone. There will be a focus on supporting people most underserved by mainstream mental health services, including BAPOC & LGBTQ+ people.

After18 works with local artists and arts organisations to provide a broad range of experiences for young refugees. Our weekly art and photography club provides young people with a safe space to express themselves and have their views heard. After18 runs a weekly group for asylum seeking and refugee young women (including victims of trafficking) on a Friday evening at our Leicester city-centre hub. We aim to increase confidence and reduce isolation by encouraging young women to participate in a range of creative and wellbeing activities chosen and led by them. We also offer homework support for students taking Health and Social Care at college and access to opportunities to help them progress in this field.
We are looking for a volunteer to support this group and interact with the young people as they participate in the activities they have chosen each week. This could include cooking and baking or arts and crafts activities, as well as trips to venues in and around Leicester. This would be a great opportunity for someone who has previously worked or volunteered with young people and is passionate about supporting their wellbeing.
The volunteer must be available on a Friday evening (5-7pm) in Leicester city centre.
The volunteer may be involved in:
