This role will suit you if you are:
- Someone who enjoys talking to members of the public and can engage in a meaningful conversation.
- Comfortable lone working at times, as well as working in a team.
- Up for a challenge and like to reach a target.
- A person that enjoys giving excellent service.
- Happy to volunteer on your own. However, someone will always be available to support.
- Confident building new relationships with people.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Helping grow awareness and support for local & national fundraising
- Understanding different needs and interests of people and inspiring them to give in a way that is right for them.
- Supporting in our bookshop by manning the space, rotating stock, tidying and pricing books while always providing a friendly and welcoming approach.
- Attending regular meetings and suggesting fundraising ideas/feedback so we can fulfil our fundraising plan.
- Using your particular skills in creative ways to raise funds
- Answering questions people may have about the National Trust and being able to explain where donations go and impact they make.
- Ensuring we follow fundraising guidance, regulations and best practice
- Supporting big fundraising campaigns or projects.
- Being part of a team that may need to adapt and change in response to local needs, National Trust priorities or changes to government guidelines

You’d also be joining Europe’s largest conservation charity and the wider National Trust team proudly looking after 780 miles of coastline, over 250,000 hectares of land, over 500 historic houses, castles, ancient monuments, gardens, parks and nature reserves (including lighthouses, villages, pubs and a gold mine!). We are a unique charity welcoming millions of people each year and with a vision to open up places for the benefit of everyone, for ever.
All National Trust volunteers will be asked to

The Art Station is a dynamic, ambitious, arts organisation and charity, developing and supporting the creative industries in Saxmundham, Suffolk; using its venue in a 1950s telephone exchange as a base for a dynamic Art and Learning Programme for local community and East Coastal Suffolk as well as providing attractive workspaces, a co-working area and tech space.Our work and presence is creating a positive impact through an increase of both cultural and economic activity. Our Art and Learning programme comprises exhibitions, events, talks and screenings and we build our sessions for young people and children around this programme – creating access to and engagement with contemporary arts. We support the creation of art and the development of tech learning and creative tech in a rural context.
Becoming a Trustee at The Art Station is more than attending meetings; it’s about being a true part of a small and thriving team, engaging in purposeful activities, representing our mission and values as an ambassador, and actively contributing to our collective vision of supporting artists and reaching out to our community to provide opportunities to participate, learning programmes and create positive social change.
The role of the Trustee to attend board meetings to provide leadership and governance, ensuring our priorities and strategies are consistent with our charitable aims and objectives; to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of priorities and strategies; to advance the aims of The Art Station; and to actively engaging in shaping the future strategy of The Art Station.
In addition to attending board meetings, Trustees get involved with lots of interesting things depending on their interests and availability
- Participating in strategic sub-committees.
- Attending various events and activities organised by The Art Station or partner organisations.
- Assisting in the delivery of specific projects, especially in areas where certain skillsets are needed.
- Engaging in networking and advocacy efforts on behalf of the organisation.

- Give support in leadership and strategy for the current capital project – a building retrofit programme
- Get involved with at least one board sub-committee
- Attend board meetings 4x per year in person and monthly sub-committee meetings (online or in person)

Main Responsibilities

Support the Commercial Manager in developing and delivering Fair Game’s multi-stream fundraising and partnering strategy.

To research and identify potential grants and funds that support Fair Game’s objectives.

To prepare high-quality grant applications, including writing and editing content, and production of documents in support of the respective applications.

End-to-end management of grant applications, including updating the respective libraries and funnels for management reporting.

Managing tender emails, portals, and websites for grant applications, identifying opportunities and future pipeline, registering interest, and downloading the relevant documents.

Evaluating and identifying areas for improvement from tender and bid feedback.

To attend a fortnightly one-hour management meeting.

Flourishing Lives is the only London-wide body dedicated to older people, the arts and wellbeing and we are looking for an enthusiastic Chair to help take the work forward.
We are a coalition of over 600 arts, health and wellbeing organisations and older people’s groups working collaboratively to champion positive ageing, amplify the voices of older people and empower people over the age of 55 to lead richer, more independent lives. We help transform the lives of older people, by promoting community, expression, access and lifelong learning through engagement with the arts.
Launching as a project in 2016 before becoming an independent charity in 2021 with a core team of two members of staff and a board of four trustees, Flourishing Lives has been shaped by the communities it serves. The broad programme includes providing training and development through workshops, forums and resources in intergenerational, inclusive, reflective and best practice. Through sharing knowledge, supporting practitioners and advocating positive ageing, Flourishing Lives strives to ensure that London is a great place to age creatively.
About the role
Over the last 6 months, work has been underway to shape our new strategy and we are excited to be heading towards 2025 with a bold and ambitious plan for the next 5 years. Flourishing Lives is looking for a Chair to share in this excitement and support a dedicated board and staff as the team looks to this next phase of work.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for exploring growth and strategic development and would be ideal for anyone passionate about arts and ageing in London. The Chair will work with the existing board and Flourishing Lives’ staff to uphold the organisation’s mission and values, providing inclusive leadership and effective governance of the organisation to ensure Flourishing Lives fulfils its potential.

Essential
• Demonstrate passion and commitment to Flourishing Lives, its strategic objectives and cause,
• Governance experience; either as a chair or as a member of a board of directors/trustees/governors etc.,
• Experience or demonstrable understanding of fundraising and income generation,
• Ability to foster and promote a collaborative team environment.
Desirable
• Strong networking capabilities that can be utilised for the benefit of Flourishing Lives.
• Financial management expertise and/or a broad understanding of finance issues affecting a charity.
• Good understanding of legal issues affecting charities and their governance.
Principal Responsibilities
Strategic leadership
• Provide leadership to Flourishing Lives and its board, ensuring that the organisation has maximum impact for its beneficiaries.
• Ensure that the board provides a clear strategic direction for Flourishing Lives to amplify the relationship between the arts, ageing and combatting ageism.
• Establish and build a strong, effective and a constructive working relationship with the Flourishing Lives staff, ensuring they are supported to achieve agreed strategic objectives.
• Liaise between meetings with the Flourishing Lives staff to maintain an overview of the strategy, governance, finance and quality of Flourishing Lives’ work.
Governance
· Chair meetings of the board effectively and efficiently, bringing impartiality and objectivity to the decision-making process.
· Ensure that the governance arrangements are working in the most effective way for Flourishing Lives.
· Develop the knowledge and capability of the board.
· Ensure that the board reflects on the balance of skills, knowledge and experience needed to govern and lead the organisation effectively and take action when necessary.
· Approve the annual cycle of the board meetings, meeting agendas, chair and facilitate meetings, monitor decisions taken at meetings and ensure they are implemented.
