Chair, Gloucestershire Local Nature Partnership

Job role and background information

The Gloucestershire Local Nature Partnership (GLNP) is looking for a new independent chair to replace Adrian Phillips.

The LNP Chair’s job is to lead the Board and the wider partnership at this exciting time. He/she will chair sessions of the Board (currently meeting six times annually) and of the wider partnership (currently three meetings annually); and will represent the LNP at national, regional and local meetings.

An LNP manager is currently under recruitment and will be based with the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. Working with the Manager, the Chair will oversee the work of the partnership, and help ensure that the Board’s aims are delivered.

The chair needs to have the following qualities:

  • A strategic understanding of environmental issues

  • A good understanding of how these relate to the economy and to people’s health and well-being

  • Good knowledge of the county

  • A recognised profile in the county

  • The ability to lead a partnership of different interests

  • Excellent chairing skills

    The time commitment averages out at about two days a month. Most of the work is Gloucestershire but some attendance at regional and London events may be required.

    The role of Chair is unpaid, but travel and expenses will be reimbursed.
