You could be a trustee for Artemis Studios, a Bracknell-based charity that’s now growing our Board, ready for the next stages of development.
Artemis Studios Performing Arts Schools Limited is a Charity only Registered in March 2022, while our not-for-personal-profit organisation has been providing similar services in Bracknell since at least August 2014 and our roots go back locally to 2007. This, of course, means our charity Board of trustees is still growing, and needs new skills and abilities to achieve that growth.

The role and what we are looking for in a new trustee
Trustees are the people who make the top-level decisions for our charity. Our Board includes people with experience and skills in performing and creative arts, and we’d expect new trustees to have empathy with our cause and our beneficiaries.
Interest in young people, mental health support, education would be beneficial, but potential applicants do not need in-depth understanding of, or involvement in, our operational cause.

- Funding and fund-raising
- Strategic planning for our charity
- Legal responsibilities in a Charitable Company

Full induction to our organisation will be provided, plus specialist support as a new trustee including access to external training.
If you can think strategically and plan long-term, you have what our trustees primarily need; you’ll also need to work collectively with other Board members. Support from our paid employees is always available, under the leadership of our CEO, who works closely with the Board to develop and implement our strategic and operational plans.
We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles to governing our organisation. We are looking for people from a variety of backgrounds to join our charity. We want to expand the diversity of our Board, in all meanings, and strongly welcome applications from people from less-represented groups.
The focus of a trustee role is strategic, and trustees will not be expected to get involved in the organisation’s operations on a day-to-day basis; however, contact and liaison with other trustees and employees is expected.
We ask for about six hours of your time per month, which includes all meetings, discussions, etc. You will need access to digital communications, as much of our charity’s business is run that way.

Kids in Museums is looking for people who are passionate about improving access to culture for children, young people and families to join our Board of Trustees.
As a Trustee, you can help shape our mission to change the museum and heritage sector to make it better for all children, young people and families, particularly those who currently have the least access. You’ll be joining a dedicated Board that brings a wide range of skills and experiences to the charity and have the chance to become involved with exciting Kids in Museums programmes such as the Family Friendly Museum Award and Takeover Day.
Our Trustees have the opportunity to

- An ability to give feedback to staff, volunteers and other Trustees kindly and constructively.
- A strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- A willingness to participate in the charity’s income generation work. This could include representing Kids in Museums at networking events, making introductions to potential supporters or reviewing funding applications.

We are looking for skillful and passionate new voices to take up a role on our Board. Could it be you?
We are looking for a Trustees who are passionate about our work, and who can bring new perspectives and diverse lived experience to our team, to help us to lead change across our industry.
A key role in PiPA’s effective governance. Trustees are the final decision-makers of our charity, and have final responsibility for its success or failure. The Board’s main job is to set direction and have oversight of what’s going on, offering our Co-CEOs strategy, scrutiny, and support. Trustees are unpaid volunteers, although we do reimburse reasonable expenses.
In terms of time commitment, Board Meetings are quarterly and last three hours, with an annual Board Away Day. The time commitment for a Trustee is approximately 1 day per calendar month although this may not be evenly spread across the year.
Over the past few years, like many organisations, our Board meetings have been remote but we are gradually returning to in-person Board meetings. In person meetings have in the past mostly been held in London, and also in Bristol and Sheffield. Future locations will be agreed by the Trustees, to reflect where people are based and taking into consideration the time costs of travelling to in-person meetings.
Trustees serve a three year term of office, and may be re-appointed to serve no more than two further terms, giving a maximum time on the PiPA board of nine years.

Job Responsibilities
This is a voluntary position. The time commitment will include preparing for and running 5 trustee meetings per year and attendance at other relevant meetings and exhibitions. There will also be some work between meetings to keep up with developments.
Work can be done outside of office hours or flexibly to suit your personal situation. Meetings take 2 hours on weekday evenings, and alternate between remote and in-person meetings. The Chairperson is usually required to commit to a further 7-14 hours between meetings.

About the role.
The Arts Educational Schools, or ‘ArtsEd’, is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. The organisation has a board of non-executive trustees who are legally responsible for the overall management and control of the Schools, with day-to-day responsibilities delegated to the Principal and leadership team.
The Board and Trustees meet at least three times per year, overseeing the governance of ArtsEd with the support of a number of committees that together cover finance, welfare, Health and Safety, compliance, risk management, the Day School and Sixth Form, and Higher Education.
The Chair of the Board provides effective leadership to the governing body of trustees – no more than 15 members – by chairing Board meetings throughout the year, working closely with the senior leadership team, guiding strategy and acting as an ambassador for ArtsEd to promote the interests of the Schools.

There are three main Trustee meetings a year and monthly Operations Committee meetings to chair. We are looking for a new Treasurer to join our board of trustees to ensure financial viability and help develop our financial vision for the future. We are looking for someone who believes in the transformative potential of community based theatre, and is interested in sharing their financial expertise with us.
We're looking for applicants with professional backgrounds in charity or commercial finance and are particularly interested in meeting individuals with lived experience of forced migration. Candidates will share our love of high quality, inclusive theatre and performance, as well as our commitment to working with, for and alongside refugee communities.
Responsibilities of the role are:
- Overseeing and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements to the board.
- Assuring the board that Phosphoros's resources are being properly managed in line with both its constitution and charity law.
- Ensuring financial activity complies with relevant regulations.
- Ensuring proper systems are in place for financial control.
- Advising the board on financial risk management.
Applicants do not need previous charity board experience, but knowledge of the charity sector will be useful in the role. We aim to maintain a truly diverse Board comprising experienced trustees and those who are new to the role.
Trustees are unpaid volunteers and must be able to attend quarterly Board meetings. To keep abreast of our work and show support to the community we serve, trustees attend at least one Phosphoros Theatre production per year.
We are looking for a treasurer that is able to offer at least 4 hours of time to the charity per month. As well as making time to read and prepare paperwork in advance of Board meetings, and contributing to other activities as appropriate, for example strategic planning days, fundraising, interviews and specific working groups. Board meetings are usually held on weekday evenings in London (occasionally online). We aim to schedule board meetings at least 3 months ahead. Travel costs will be paid if they are a barrier. Trustees have a 1, 2 or 3 year tenure with the Charity, with an opportunity to renew for a second term.
Person Specification
Qualified and experienced accountant. Experience and knowledge of fundraising commercial/charity finance, budgeting and accounting.

Flourishing Lives is the only London-wide body dedicated to older people, the arts and wellbeing and we are looking for an enthusiastic Chair to help take the work forward.
We are a coalition of over 600 arts, health and wellbeing organisations and older people’s groups working collaboratively to champion positive ageing, amplify the voices of older people and empower people over the age of 55 to lead richer, more independent lives. We help transform the lives of older people, by promoting community, expression, access and lifelong learning through engagement with the arts.
Launching as a project in 2016 before becoming an independent charity in 2021 with a core team of two members of staff and a board of four trustees, Flourishing Lives has been shaped by the communities it serves. The broad programme includes providing training and development through workshops, forums and resources in intergenerational, inclusive, reflective and best practice. Through sharing knowledge, supporting practitioners and advocating positive ageing, Flourishing Lives strives to ensure that London is a great place to age creatively.

Over the last 6 months, work has been underway to shape our new strategy and we are excited to be heading towards 2025 with a bold and ambitious plan for the next 5 years. Flourishing Lives is looking for a Chair to share in this excitement and support a dedicated board and staff as the team looks to this next phase of work.

Principal Responsibilities
Strategic leadership
• Provide leadership to Flourishing Lives and its board, ensuring that the organisation has maximum impact for its beneficiaries.
• Ensure that the board provides a clear strategic direction for Flourishing Lives to amplify the relationship between the arts, ageing and combatting ageism.
• Establish and build a strong, effective and a constructive working relationship with the Flourishing Lives staff, ensuring they are supported to achieve agreed strategic objectives.
• Liaise between meetings with the Flourishing Lives staff to maintain an overview of the strategy, governance, finance and quality of Flourishing Lives’ work.
Governance
· Chair meetings of the board effectively and efficiently, bringing impartiality and objectivity to the decision-making process.
· Ensure that the governance arrangements are working in the most effective way for Flourishing Lives.
· Develop the knowledge and capability of the board.
· Ensure that the board reflects on the balance of skills, knowledge and experience needed to govern and lead the organisation effectively and take action when necessary.
· Approve the annual cycle of the board meetings, meeting agendas, chair and facilitate meetings, monitor decisions taken at meetings and ensure they are implemented.
