Being confident about managing your own money might not sound unusual. But for many young people, it’s a real challenge, and one which holds potentially major risks. Knowing where to go for money advice, and who to trust, is so much more than just good personal admin – it’s a building block of social mobility.
MyBnk is a leading financial education charity, working towards the creation of a financially capable generation across all four nations of the UK. We support young people between the ages of 5 and 25, with a particular focus on those who can’t afford for things to go wrong. Our award-winning programmes are highly effective and well-regarded, and we’ve grown rapidly in recent years, but there’s still much more to do. Today’s young people face a far less predictable job market, with high rents, economic uncertainty, and an increasingly complex financial marketplace. So we want to extend our reach and impact by an order of magnitude in the next few years: and to do that, we want to strengthen our Board with a number of new Trustees.
We have four opportunities to help guide and steer this exciting, high-growth charity into its next phase. Two of this round of appointments will be qualified accountants, ideally with experience in a Big Four firm or corporate environment. Our rapid recent growth – from £1m to £4m turnover in just a few years – has been enabled and underpinned by strong financial controls, and we will also ask these trustees to join our Finance Committee. We also want to appoint two charity specialists – one of whom will have executive experience of working across the regions and nations of the UK, and one with an excellent understanding of the safeguarding requirements of working with young people. Both of these Trustees will also bring a nuanced knowledge of charity governance and strategic planning.

The Paddy Holmes Foundation is a new charity that aims to raise money for funding transformational bursaries and funded scholarships. Since the temporary closure of our venue due to fire and water damage, we have been working hard to continue our mission with our 'out and about' activity as well as focussing on reimagining our strategic plan (Plan 2030) and governance.
We are now on the cusp of reopening our iconic Bristol venue, and as we do, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to our strategy and help us create a place where everyone is included, curious and inspired by science.

What is a trustee?
Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do. They may be known by other titles, such as:
Directors, board members, governors, committee members
Whatever they are called, trustees are the people who work with our experienced leadership team to provide support, encouragement, challenge when needed and help to decide how the charity is run. Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact on people’s lives. Depending on what the charity does, you will be making a difference to your local community or to society as a whole.
Trustees use their skills and experience to support their charities, helping them achieve their aims. Trustees also often learn new skills during their time on the board.

What will you do in this role?
As a trustee you will provide advice, knowledge and support to the leadership team at We The Curious.
With the steer of the Chair, the board of trustees ensures we pursue our purpose responsibly, are compliant with our governing documents, charity law and other relevant legislation. The board will review and advise on best practice and appropriate policies and procedures and uphold excellent governance.
As a trustee you will:

_Assist with the evaluation and review of the policies, goals and targets of the organisation

_Contribute to working groups for specific focus on projects
All Trustees should use their specific skills, knowledge or experience to help the Board of Trustees reach informed decisions in the best interest of We The Curious.
This will involve scrutinising Board papers, leading discussion and providing guidance as requested by the Board on new initiatives or other issues relevant to the area of our work in which the trustee has expertise.
Time commitment
_We hold quarterly board meetings, typically from 4pm to 7pm and one strategy away day per year. Trustees are expected to attend and contribute to all meetings either in person or by joining virtually.
_ Board Meetings are located at the We The Curious offices within the science centre in central Bristol, and once a year at another location around the City.
_ You will also be asked to take part in one of our subcommittee meetings which take place online, at least once per quarter. There are currently sub-committees for Finance & Risk Assurance and Purpose Strategy.
_ You may also be called upon for advice or assistance by the leadership team or to attend occasional events.
Remuneration
This is a voluntary role. Reasonable travel expenses will be covered. Food is provided at the quarterly Board meetings and strategy away days.

Terms of appointment
_Trustees are appointed to an initial three-year term of service (including a 12-month probationary period).
_Trustees can serve a maximum of six years with a reappointment after the first term of three years unless the trustee holds an office, such as Chair or Deputy Chair, in which case they would be eligible for a further three-year term. The maximum term of office is nine years.

You just need to be at least 18 years old. You don’t need formal qualifications, or previous trustee experience or a science background or have reached any stage in your career. We’ll give you training on good governance and opportunities for mentorship. This opportunity would suit someone who is new to governance or hasn’t been a trustee before.

If you join the board, you will have an induction and onboarding experience to support you with your role and get you connected with the rest of the organisation.
If you are a first-time trustee or want a refresher, we will provide you with training on good governance and other topics related to your role. We will also provide you with mentorship from other members of the board.

About the role.
Following the decision of our current Chair, the Solihull College & University CentreCorporation welcomes interest from candidates who have the time, passion, experience, and interest to become a Governor and our Chair Designate in summer 2024.
Initially joining as the named Chair Designate, with time to engage in an extended and supportive handover period through the 2024 autumn term, we look forward to welcoming the person appointed as Chair of Solihull College & University Centre from early 2025.
The Chair provides leadership to the Corporation and its members, working closely with the Principal & CEO and the Director of Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance. Supported by two Vice Chairs, the Chair ensures Governors have oversight of organisational development and are made aware of risks affecting strategy, finance, staffing, student experience, or reputation, through receiving plans and reports from the Principal & CEO and her senior team.
The Corporation is comparable to a board of non-executive directors and is composed of members from the local community, stakeholders, students and staff members.
Actively involved in long-term visioning and approving the educational character of Solihull College & University Centre, the Chair ensures Governors’ diverse skills, areas of specialist knowledge, networks, and professional opinions are used for the advancement of the organisation and in the most appropriate way.
With up to 19 Members of the Corporation, plus two External Members, the Chair ensures professional engagement between the Corporation and both employees and learners, through both formal means (meetings) and informal opportunities (such as events and visits).
Governors help the organisation to maintain a long-term focus whilst working on its shorter-term goals and plans. The day-to-day management is very much the responsibility of the Principal & CEO, and the executive management team. The Corporation is advised by a Director of Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance who is part of the senior leadership team.
There are seven meetings of the Corporation throughout the academic year (September through to July). In addition to this, there are additional meetings of the Search & Governance Committee, the Audit & Risk Committee, the Remuneration Committee, and the Financial Oversight Group. Opportunities for Governors to participate in visits and meetings with students are arranged throughout the year.
It is expected that – with preparation for meetings, regular contact with Governors and both the Principal & CEO and Director of Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance, plus any ambassadorial duties and training – the person appointed should plan to spend up to five days per month fulfilling the duties of the Chair.
Who we are looking for.
To be successful in this non-executive Chair role, we believe it is important that the person appointed brings experience in strategic leadership. When considering the requirement to be the ‘critical friend’ for a chief executive of a complex £50m business of education and training, set across several campuses and operating across the West Midlands, having a Chair with skills and knowledge which supports the development of the Principal & CEO, the executive team, and the broader Corporation and its members, is important.
Ideally, our next Chair will be an experienced non-executive, and know from experience the difference between operational leadership, and strategic oversight and scrutiny. The application of this knowledge will be welcomed, so that we may continue to benefit from the mutual respect that exists between the non-executive and executive representatives at the College.
If the person appointed doesn’t have direct experience of being a non-executive director or board member, then we will expect them to be able to demonstrate their ability to chair well and know how to get the very best out of a talented and committed voluntary non-executive group.
More than experience, we need a Chair who is passionate about the work that we do to transform the lives of our learners and provide opportunities to help shape their futures. The Court of the University of Aberdeen is seeking to appoint four new independent members (non-executive directors and charity trustees) to fill vacancies that will arise during the Summer 2024.

The charity
Founded in 2005, the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust (RAFCT) is the parent charity of the world- renowned Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), the biggest military airshow in the world. Specific role
We are seeking a Trustee with a Finance specialism to join our Board of Trustees. This individual would provide oversight of our financial affairs, ensure that our plans are sustainable and that our charitable operations are suitably assured.
· Professional accounting, finance or similar qualification with a strong track record of financial management and reporting.
· Knowledge and understanding of financial planning and budgeting and best practice in this area. An understanding of the voluntary/charity sector, along with knowledge of the financial framework for charities would be helpful.
· Strategic financial thinking with experience in establishing and setting out strategic goals and direction in organizations.
· Ability to identify and translate financial risks and opportunities, to enable the board to make informed decisions.
· A track record of commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
· An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship.

About Roots Academy
At Roots Academy, we’ve built a learning experience that’s changing the lives of the ummah’s future leaders, change-makers and visionaries.

Role Summary
Roots Academy is in the process of registering as a charity. As part of this process, the team are working towards creating policies, procedures and frameworks to ensure Roots is meeting charity governance requirements, and to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
The teams currently include:
- Executive team – will become the Trustee Board, once registered
- Leadership team – Team Leads include Finance, HR, Marketing, Fundraising, Academic, Delivery
As our Governance Lead, you will work closely with the Executive Team / Trustee Board, to establish a governance framework for the charity. You will also work closely with the relevant team leads to ensure each team has policies and procedures in place.
Key tasks
- Working closely with the Exec team, support the Trustee on-boarding process, to ensure all required documentation is obtained, and stored securely
- Support with trustee meetings, ensuring accurate record keeping of meeting agendas and minutes
- Manage registers; register of members of the board, register of interests, register of gifts, policy register, risk register, submitting to relevant regulators and responding to appropriate requests.
- Oversee the development of governance polices, such as Complaints Policy, Conflict of Interest Policy, Risk Management Policy, and Whistleblowing Policy.
- Work with the leadership team to ensure policies and procedures are in place, in line with best practice, and signed off by the Trustee board. This includes but is not limited to:
- Finance policies: Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering, Cash Handling, Due Diligence, Expenses, Reserves
- Marketing & communications policies: Data Protection, External Communications & PR Policy, Social Media Policy, IT & Internal Communication Policy
- Fundraising policies: Acceptance & Refusal of Donations Policy, Ethical Fundraising Policy
- Work with the People Team Lead to roll out HR and safeguarding policies and procedures
- Work with the relevant Team Lead to ensure Roots has all relevant insurances is in place – e.g. public liability insurance for fundraising events, travel insurance for trips abroad, employer liability insurance if employees are recruited in the future.
- Advise the board as necessary, keeping up to date with relevant laws and regulations, including but not limited to Charity Commission Regulations and the Fundraising Code of Conduct.

The ESU is best known for its extensive work in supporting children and young people to develop speaking and listening (oracy) skills through primary education programmes, public speaking competitions and debate.
The ESU is an international organisation with a network of 54 national ESUs, each operating independently and according to its own jurisdiction. The ESU provides secretariat to the International Council.
The international headquarters of the ESU are at Dartmouth House, one of the most notable properties in Mayfair.
It is Grade II Listed and is scheduled as a building of national importance. The venue is operated under licence by Graysons, who run weddings, private events, corporate activities and service our members.
The ESU also operates a private members’ club at Dartmouth House, where members establish new friendships and networks through its varied events programme.
We plan to refurbish our Grade II listed building in the heart of Mayfair whilst retaining our heritage and maximising our opportunities.
We plan to develop our volunteering strategy and grow our network of volunteers nationally and from within our existing membership and new audiences.
Alongside planning to establish our fundraising capability to grow, diversify and enhance our education and membership offers and establishing our new fundraising strategy.

About the role
We have just appointed several new Trustees to our board and are looking to appoint a new Co-opted Advisor who can offer us support, guidance, challenge, and strategic advice through our education committee.
You will join us as we embark on new ventures to develop our site and offer, diversify our income streams, grow our volunteering and ultimately create our next 5-year strategy.
The co-opted advisor will have a one-year term.

New College Durham is looking for volunteers to join its Board of Governors and use their personal and professional knowledge and experience to shape the strategic direction of the College.
The Board is responsible for the success of the College. Its role is to establish a vision, mission and strategy, provide financial oversight, hold the College’s senior leaders to account for the quality of education and ensure risks are managed appropriately. As a Governor you will support and challenge our executive management team and help the Board make decisions that will impact on student achievement, their longer-term outcomes and the future direction and growth of the College. North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College is a medium-sized general further education college that serves south Leicester and Leicestershire and the north of Warwickshire, including the districts of Blaby, Oadby and Wigston and Harborough and the boroughs of Nuneaton and Bedworth, North Warwickshire and Hinckley and Bosworth. About the role.
North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College’s governing body, known as the Corporation Board, has an inclusive, collaborative and respectful culture. The governing body includes 10 external members in addition to the Principal & CEO, a staff member and a student member. The Corporation Board currently holds 4 formal meetings a year (to be reduced to 3 meetings a year in 2024/24), together with a Strategy Day and a Creative meeting, and in addition to the four different committees that also meet throughout the academic year. These meetings take place both in person and online.
The role of a governor is to be a critical friend of the College, offering appropriate scrutiny and challenge, whilst also offering insightful thoughts and ideas for future opportunities. Governors add value to the board through increased diversity of thought and add value, based on each individual’s experience, to the organisation’s strategic plan.

- Financial Expertise – Professionally qualified with experience in strategic financial planning or the analysis of financial management accounts is desirable for this area of expertise.
