Village Solar creates jobs for rural marginalized women in off-grid, last-mile communities of Malawi through the distribution of clean energy products to low-income consumers. This means we recruit, train and offer ongoing business support to disadvantaged women, while also providing life-improving products to households in remote rural areas. In the rural areas of Malawi, a vast majority of households, schools, businesses and healthcare facilities do not have access to reliable electricity, and most operate without electricity at all. As a result, more than 17 Million people are losing their chance at a better standard of living, and are losing economic opportunities that could lift them out of poverty. Furthermore, poverty has a clear gender aspect. Compared to men, rural women face challenges in accessing decent work opportunities and struggle to translate their labor into secure and higher-paying employment.
We target underserved communities not being reached by the majority of current energy access programs. In these communities we recruit and train local women that belong to local Village Savings Associations (VSLAs) and bring them into our micro-entrepreneur distribution network. We provide them with in-demand products, primarily solar lamps and home systems, and compensate them on a commission basis. These women not only raise awareness of clean energy solutions but also serve as essential points of sale and provide post-sales support within their communities. We offer consumer financing that makes it easier for low income customers to afford our products.
WRITER
- Write compelling feature stories, explainers, and news articles related to clean energy entrepreneurship, women empowerment, and sustainable development.
- Volunteer 4-6 hours per week for 3-5 months

Sustainable fashion is hard. For customers it is often much easier to throw away their clothes or swap them for cheap alternatives than to repair, resell, or recycle them. Further, the current fashion industry lives on constantly changing trends, exacerbated by cheap production and social media. Overconsumption, overproduction, and lack of convenient access to circular alternatives generates more than 90 million tons of textile waste every year - something we believe is fully avoidable.
CiRCEE aims to make circular fashion easy. We believe that all the necessary solutions already exist, but they are scattered across different companies and locations. On our platform, we want to combine all the elements of the circular fashion economy - sustainable retail, repair, resale, recycling, and, importantly, re-education. By bringing these services to the customer all-in-one, circularity becomes more convenient, less time-consuming, and overall more appealing for people to act according to.

- Volunteer 4-6 hours per week remotely.

A Good Thing is looking for an experienced copywriter for an intense, short project. We have a backlog of ‘charity needs’ that we have registered but have not yet had time to write up.
When charities join A Good Thing, they are invited to share their needs with us – the things their charity could really make use of. We then write these up into short (150/200-word) pieces that go onto our blog and are also heavily promoted via our social media channels. We work hard to match these charity needs up with local businesses that can fulfil the needs.
The successful candidate will be given access to our list of charity needs, and will work through them, writing them up to a template that we will provide, and then uploading them to our website. There will be some image research needed, too, for each piece.
We estimate there are roughly 150–200 hours of work here. Happy for these hours to be completed over a period of 6–12 weeks, depending on availability. Obviously this work can be done remotely and entirely flexibly. Access to a computer will be an essential requirement. You will also need to be familiar with the Squarespace tool, which we use for our website.

As a national organisation overseeing a network of 41 county-based local charities across England, CPRE is a powerful campaigning force, often working in coalition with others to deliver positive change for the countryside.
The upcoming centenary in 2026 is the perfect opportunity not only to celebrate CPRE’s past, but to articulate a new vision for the future of the countryside. It’s an exciting time for new Trustees to join CPRE and contribute to shaping a brighter future for the countryside and beyond. We’re seeking to enhance our Trustee Board by recruiting up to four new Trustees. We would particularly welcome candidates with one of the following four skill-sets:
Media / Public Relations: Candidates should bring extensive experience in media and public relations, particularly in government communications, policy campaigns, and crisis management. Candidates can come from either a policy, academic, business, commerce or consultancy background, and will have experience of advising organisations on how they improve their contribution to the environment.
