Job Description

Are you hoping to work in the charity sector? Are you looking to develop your professional skills, boost your CV and make a real difference to the work that we do?

Hospice UK are currently offering a volunteer internship available for around 8–12 weeks within our hospice support and member engagement team based at our central London office.

In this volunteer internship programme you will work with the national hospice support manager and membership engagement manager.  It will be a great opportunity to see how a national membership organisation works.

There will be a varied range of work in the programme and this includes:

  • Working with Hospices to update and revise our bank of case studies
  • Support work to evaluate hospice activity for our national awareness raising week (Hospice Care Week) and analysis of social media and online data.
  • Analysis / segmentation / market research re different types of members
  • Help with tracking / inputting data re membership engagement

Key experiences will shadowing in meetings and building relationships with members, copyrighting – taking raw information and making it user friendly and managing feedback and evaluations from our national campaign week.

Your contribution will make a real difference to our organisation and in return we hope to provide you with an experience of real value.  Hospice UK aims to give volunteer interns a rewarding experience, provide a thorough induction and supervision, and meaningful work on specific and time-limited projects.

Those taking up a volunteer internship with us can determine their time and availability. We will aim be as flexible as possible but for practical support reasons we envisage the internship would take place over two days a week, although the exact days and hours will be determined by availability and personal preference.

The volunteer internships would be different from general volunteering at Hospice UIK which is not time-limited to a specific planned programme. We are committed to the transparent, consistent and fair recruitment and management of volunteer interns.

What we are looking for

You can apply if you are a university student or graduate, have left school or are looking for voluntary experience in your gap year. We also welcome applications from those with equivalent experience, returning to the workplace or looking for a change in career.

The successful candidate will be looking to develop their research and writing skills, be able demonstrate an interest in end of life care issues, the workings of a membership organisaiton and in developing a career in communications, fundraising and the charity sector, and will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual.
