Stay is a leading homelessness charity in Telford and Wrekin and has been operating for over 30 years providing housing and support services to homeless and vulnerable people. We’re passionate about preventing homelessness and empowering individuals to rebuild their lives.
We're looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our Board of Trustees. The role is voluntary but travel and other reasonable expenses are paid. You do not need previous governance experience – we will provide an induction and training.

Whether you are an experienced trustee or wanting to take your first step at Board level we would like to hear from you.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for people to join our board of trustees to help take Cheltenham Almshouses and Aid forward. We would particularly welcome those with experience of building maintenance and development of new properties, health and safety, finance and investment, risk control, social care and marketing.
Many of the properties we own are of older stock and there is a constant challenge to keep the buildings well maintained and up to standard, in line with health and safety requirements whilst providing comfortable and affordable living.
We have recently built four new wonderful apartments within a conservation area and may possibly in the future look at extending our current stock of properties with more new builds.
We have a healthy balance sheet and would look to new trustees to guide the charity with new investment opportunities.
At present we have little presence on social media and would welcome a trustee on board who could help us in this field and ultimately give us the presence we so need. By maintaining a wait list this reduces the risk of void apartments and subsequent decrease in income.
We provide housing to many people who are working but cannot afford the market rents, for those retired who want to live in well maintained, peaceful communities. Some of our beneficiaries may need help with more personal matters such as benefit applications, liaising with social services, the clerk will deal with these aspects directly but additional knowledge of areas such as benefits and pensions would be immensely valuable to our beneficiaries, some of whom may not have any family members nearby to support them.

We are looking for a talented filmaker to work alongside the activity co-ordinator to create a short film with the residents of a homeless hostel in Westminster.
Last year the residents engaged in a photography project, which culminated in an exhibition. It would be exciting this year to create a film which they are part of creating.
We have four DSLR cameras which are of good qaulity, and we can use these to create the film. We also have some other bits of equipment which we can use.
You will be fully supported in this role, and work alongside the activity co-ordiantor, and we can also cover travel costs.

We are looking for a friendly and experienced painter and decorator, to work with residents at a homeless hostel in London.
The role would consist of working with residents to teach and help them to paint areas of the hostel, this would be a fantastic and empowering role, which would offer some of the clients an oppotunity to learn a skill, or use they skills they already have to do something positive in there surrondings.
We will be able to provide all the equipment for painting, and can also cover travel costs. You will also be fully supported by staff, and work alongside them in this position.

We are looking for dedicated Outreach Volunteers in the London Boroughs of Kingston, Richmond and Wandsworth. We would particularly like to hear from you if you live in or near the above boroughs.
The Outreach teams encounter people on their first steps from homelessness to independence – providing pathways and support to assist people off the streets.
We work with people who are rough sleeping and we do shifts late at night, and early in the morning, to find these individuals. SPEAR then works with people on a housing pathway and assists them to link into various support services, tailored to the challenges an individual might face.
SPEAR is looking for self-motivated, outgoing, and empathic people who could volunteer to provide support to vulnerably housed, rough sleepers, or anyone using homelessness services in the London boroughs of Richmond, Wandsworth and Kingston.
The volunteer will enjoy developing positive relationships with new people and will be willing to work outside of their own comfort zone providing support and assistance to the Outreach Teams clients. The volunteer must have an enhanced DBS background check (SPEAR will apply for this on your behalf.)
It would be desirable if you had a driving license.

Co-op Homes (CHS) is a housing association which owns some 300 properties across London and the South East. We're also a managing agent for 30 other community housing organisations and housing co-ops, providing services to over 2,000 residents. Our unique proposition lies in our ability to provide expert housing management services to housing co-operatives and other small, resident-led housing organisations, enabling them to maintain their autonomy.
Board member opportunities
CHS is governed by a Board of Management made up of paid members who meet regularly throughout the year to direct policy and make major decisions on housing matters. The Board is also responsible for ensuring that we are managed efficiently, effectively and in line with the requirements of the law, regulatory bodies, best practice and value for money.
We have an active Board, currently made up of five members, bringing a variety of skills and backgrounds. Our Chair has been in the role since 2021 and we appointed a new Managing Director within the last year.
We are now looking to recruit two new board members. One who can bring strategic finance expertise and another with building asset management experience.
- Strategic finance: As a provider, we offer a unique set of services that have particular challenges. We are looking for an experienced senior finance professional to help us balance the risks and benefits involved in relation to our portfolio and scrutinise our finances strategically for the longer term.
- Building asset management: We are looking for expertise in property management. This will include repairs and maintenance, health and safety legislation and regulations, strategic asset management and decarbonisation.
We would very much welcome applications from people who combine relevant expertise with lived experience of social housing or experience of living in a housing co-operative, as we know you would bring a unique insight to the role. For the same reason we would also welcome applications from minority groups.

The Role of Trustee
The withYOU Board plays a vital role in providing leadership and direction to the organisation. You will work collectively with other board members to monitor performance, assess risks, and oversee the implementation of innovative approaches to service provision and business development.
The role of Board Member is non-executive and unpaid; the Senior Leadership Team, led by the Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for operational management within a framework of controls established by the Board. In practice, the Board and CEO work in partnership to develop innovative approaches to business development and delivery and to safeguard the organisation’s future.
We are particularly interested in those who come from a background in: health and social care, finance, HR/organisational development, business development and risk/assessment.

As an Outreach volunteer you will be assisting outreach workers to support Romanes or Romanian speaking clients face-to-face or over the phone. Other tasks involved in this role will include helping clients access support around immigration, employment, reconnections, and accommodation, to have a good understanding of the Roma communities and have knowledge of the UK EUSS requirements while understanding the rights clients have with pre settled statues and settled statues. For this role it is required that you can speak Romanes or Romanian fluently or to a high level.
In this role, you will be supporting us with some or all of the following tasks:
• Assisting outreach workers to support Romanes or Romanian speaking clients face to-face or over the phone.
• Engaging with rough sleepers who have been referred via StreetLink and those known to the team, supporting the key worker with general assessments
• Helping clients access support around immigration, employment and reconnections and accommodation.
• Working together with the outreach worker and divide tasks where appropriate, such as accompanying clients to appointments
• Supporting outreach workers with navigation and note taking.
• Engaging with rough sleeping clients with sensitivity and respect.

On Sunday 12th May, The Passage will be having our first ever Walk to End Homelessness in Battersea Park. There will be three different distances around the park to choose from, 2.5km, 5km, or 10km, all of which are wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Our event village around the Battersea Bandstand will open at 11am, with entertainment and refreshments, and the walk will begin at 12pm.
About this role
As a route marshal for our Walk to End Homelessness, you will be helping ensure the safety and smooth flow of the event. You will be positioned along one of the three routes in Battersea Park to guide our walkers, provide directions, and offer assistance or support if needed. You may also need to communicate with the Volunteer Manager to report any issues that might arise during the walk. Overall, your responsibility will be to ensure that our participants have an enjoyable and safe experience during the Walk to End Homelessness, collectively supporting those facing or at risk of homelessness in London as a community.
You will be one of 8 Route Marshalls and be supervised by the Volunteer Manager.
Main Duties:
- Guiding walkers along the designated routes in Battersea Park
- Providing directions and answering questions from walkers
- Reporting any issues to the Volunteer Manager
- Offering support and encouragement to walkers
- Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude throughout the event
Desired Qualities:
- Aged 18 or over
- Great punctuality
- Good communication with the walkers and other volunteers
- Comfortable standing for extended periods
- An inclusive and non-judgmental attitude

Hello there,
We are looking for a friendly barber/haidresser to cut hair once or twice a month in a hostel in Westmintser. The hostel is part of the chairty Single homeless project, where we support people out of the homelessness pathway, into indpendnece and better wellbeing.
When the resident has a haircut as with anyone it can make such a difference to how someone feels about themselves, if you have your own barber tools and are willing to come and cut a few gentlmens hair once or twice a month, it could make such a positive difference for some of the residents, and make them feel better about themselves.
