The Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB) has been representing and organising
workers since August 2012. We are a democratic, worker-led union, all our achievements are thanks to volunteer work by dedicated members and supporters.
Many of our low-paid members are from Latin America and do not speak English. This means there is a never-ending need for translation and interpretation. Our ability to provide equal access to all union services for members, in a language they understand, makes a world of difference in terms of how democratic and participative the union is.
This role will require translating documents and interpreting between case workers and members, as well as in workplace and union meetings. The role will also require admin work around the office to help keep the union functioning efficiently.
The volunteer must be completely bilingual in Spanish and English (native speaker or fluent). Volunteer must have good writing skills in both languages.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept any applications from individuals that are unable to commit to a minimum of 2 working days a week, 9am to 5pm, for 3 months.
If you are interested in this volunteering position, please send your CV.
