ROLE DESCRIPTION

Role Title: Volunteer Coordinator

Location: In field (Samos, Greece)

Reporting to: Team Lead / CEO

Hours: 36-40 hours a week /  5.5 days a week 

Duration: Minimum 3 months

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of your role will be to manage elements of volunteering on behalf of the organisation for which you are recruiting volunteers. You will be assessing and meeting an organisation's needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers. 

As a volunteer coordinator based in the field, you will be expected to hit the ground running, to recruit and coordinate independent volunteers looking to come out and support the refugee crisis in Greece, Serbia & Bosnia. You will be working closely with the project coordinator, and when the number of applications are high you will be supporting them to match and connect volunteers with the 40 plus projects we support, based on the volunteers skills and location.

You will be expected to be an ambassador for Indigo, promoting a happy, healthy and helpful volunteer experience for all. You will need to have a good understanding of the refugee crisis in this area and be able to signpost volunteers to key information and organisations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a volunteer coordinator, you will need to:

  • Manage the refugee/migrant project inbox by offering advice and information to volunteers and projects through email. 

  • Drive people to complete the volunteer application form

  • Promote volunteering (on social media and other platforms) through the communication strategy and campaigns

  • Be responsible for the collection of volunteer stories and project testimonials

  • Develop and update the general information on the website, community channels and in email communication.

  • Use a CRM system (Salesforce) to process the volunteers information and availability ready for the project volunteer coordinator 

  • Maintain databases and undertake any other ad hoc administrative duties

  • Collect and assess volunteer feedback / stories

  • Ensure appraisal forms are completed by projects and they fulfil Indigo’s criteria. Provide support with documents and advice where necessary

  • Build and maintain relationships with the grassroots project coordinators and wider community by organising networking and social events

  • Meet with projects where possible to establish good working relationships

  • Collect volunteer data to

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with projects
