Job Description

Do you have experience of any of the following: International development, campaigning, financial management, HR?  Are you passionate about addressing our climate emergency? Do you believe in the power of faith-based organisations working for a more just world?

If so, we'd love to hear from you. We're looking for new people to offer their experience to the governance of Jesuit Missions. Whether you are an experienced leader or you're looking to move into leadership, we'd like to hear from you.

Jesuit Missions is the office of the Jesuits in Britain. For over 60 years, we have been supporting the international work of Jesuits in Africa, Asia and Latin America. With tens of thousands of Jesuits and lay partners working across the world, there is no shortage of work to be done.

We provide financial support for projects in poor communities across the world. We work in schools and parishes in the UK promoting reflection and action in line with the Jesuit commitment "to serve the faith through the promotion of justice." Central to our work is a focus on reconciliation with creation.

Our small team of nine staff is based in South London. We have an annual income of c£1 million and lots of ambition to grow our work so that we can do more to respond to some of the pressing issues of our age. 

As the Jesuits are a global religious order, we’re also part of an international network which creates real opportunities for collaboration so that we can maximise our impact. 

The Management Board meets four times a year. There's also work to be done before and between meetings. It's a serious commitment but not an overly demanding one. The Board's role is to help determine JM's strategy and to advise and encourage the team so that they can give of their best.

We welcome expressions of interest from anyone who feels they have something to contribute. In particular, we’re looking for people with experience of projects/programmes, advocacy, HR and financial management. You may or may not currently hold management roles. It is certainly a personal development opportunity for people aspiring to leadership positions.
