City of London, Greater London
Job description

I CAN the children’s communication charity is actively seeking a Finance Trustee to join their Board.

As experts in helping children develop the speech, language and communication skills they need to thrive in the 21st Century, the charity offer a number of programmes and services throughout the UK offering support to parents, children and practitioners as well as operating two Ofsted Outstanding specialist schools supporting children with severe and complex communication needs.

Finance Trustee – a qualified Accountant with an understanding and experience of Charity SORP, you will work alongside their Treasurer to ensure that the Board’s duty to ensure proper accounting records are kept and financial resources are controlled in line with governance, legal and regulatory requirements.

All Trustees have a duty to ensure that the charity is well run, solvent, legally compliant, and working towards I CAN’s charitable purpose for which it was established and Trustee roles are an important and a highly rewarding way to support an organisation. Please note that Trustee roles are unremunerated voluntary positions, although reasonable travel expenses will be paid and the time commitments are outlined in the candidate pack.

I CAN is committed to equality of opportunity, supports and encourages under-represented groups and values diversity. We seek people from a wide range of backgrounds, who will bring a fresh perspective to the Board and having reviewed our existing Trustees diversity, skills and experience, we are keen for our Board to reflect the diversity of the communities that we work with and we therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community.
