Job Description

BIRD SURVEYOR

Volunteering roles
League Against Cruel Sports sanctuaries

We have an exciting opportunity to volunteer at one or more of our beautiful sanctuaries based in Exmoor, Dartmoor and the Quantock Hills.

A safe haven for many animals, you will encounter an abundance of wildlife at our sanctuaries; including the bird species Pied Flycatcher, Wood Warbler and Woodcock.

Using your wildlife identification skills, you will conduct a survey that identifies and records the bird species present at our sanctuaries. A crucial role in shaping future sanctuary management plans, your results will also be fed back to the BTO.

Working with the Head of Conservation & Education, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about conservation, develop new skills, meet like-minded people and spend time in the outdoors surrounded by an abundance of wildlife living free from persecution.

The League Against Cruel Sports is Britain’s leading charity working towards a kinder society where persecuting animals for ‘sport’ is in the past.

Redefining what is acceptable and inspiring change, we were instrumental in helping bring about the landmark Hunting Act 2004. Driven by compassion and empowered by knowledge, we manage sanctuaries to protect wildlife, carry out investigations to expose law-breaking and cruelty to animals, and campaign for stronger animal protection laws and penalties.

United, we will end animal cruelty in the name of ‘sport’.
