25% of people with a registered disability are offline compared with 6% of the rest of the UK. Use your IT skills to support a disabled person keep in touch with loved ones, learn new things and pursue their interests.
We need volunteers to support disabled people to access the digital world, get online and get more out of life. You will make a difference by helping clients use the internet and email, building digital confidence and troubleshooting basic IT issues.
You don’t need to be an IT expert, you need to have an everyday knowledge of IT and a friendly, patient personality. It would be great if you have experience with training or supporting people doing something for the first time.
By volunteering with us, you will gain experience working with disabled people. You will also learn about the developing field of assistive technology. We provide ongoing training and support along with expenses, as it’s important to us that our volunteers are not out of pocket because of volunteering.
This role will take place at a residential care service. We like a commitment of at least one day (or two mornings/afternoons) a week for at least six months.
Please note that we are looking for volunteers 18 years and older for this role.
