The Role:
With an ambitious development programme up and running, we need to expand our Trustee Board. This is an exciting opportunity to join us at a crucial time of growing demand for our services.
About Us:
Evolve Counselling is a long-established charitable social enterprise, providing low cost, affordable or funded mental health counselling to adults in mainly Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties. Our counselling community is made up of 50 – 60 qualified self-employed practitioners, working part-time. We deliver talking therapies to adults – online and in person. Our service delivers around 500 counselling sessions per month to a broad range of individuals, many of whom would not otherwise be able to access counselling support. Evolve also provides supervision, reflective practice, critical incident support, and mental health awareness and related training, to organisations and businesses large and small.
What We’re Looking For:
Our Trustee Board is currently drawn from the counselling and therapies community, plus commercial and other charity backgrounds. Now, with crucial development of the CIO ahead, we are looking for new members to expand the Board to its maximum ten places and to gain skills and insight from an equal, diverse and inclusive group that takes in business skills, knowledge of charities, and experience of not-for-profit finances to make growth plans a reality.
The Board will keep us on track with good governance through oversight of our work, and will also help our keen new CEO to secure a sound financial base from which to grow our operations to meet the ever-increasing demand for our services.
We welcome applications from individuals with backgrounds in any of the following areas:
- Business strategy and planning
- Commerce/industry
- Governance
- Working within the charity/CIO sector
- Financial management
- Legal expertise
- Data protection/GDPR knowledge
- Adherence to the Nolan Principles of Public Life
Please submit your CV and cover letter, stating why you’d like to become a Trustee at Evolve Counselling and how your skills and experience align with our plans for growth.

Lancashire Mind is an independent mental health charity, delivering our impactful strategy that has been co-created with the people of Lancashire. We reach over 10,000 people each year.

Lancashire Mind also welcomes applications from high performing and well-connected candidates who feel that they offer other relevant skills/connections not listed above.
Lancashire Mind’s Board has three subcommittees which have delegated authority to oversee various elements of governance. These are the: Finance & Audit, Sustainability & Growth and People & Governance subcommittees. We are looking for 3 trustees, 2 of which who may be interested in transitioning into a Chair role for the following committees.
The People & Governance Subcommittee oversees key areas of HR, including policy, board and staff performance, wellbeing and development. It also oversees key areas of governance such as Safeguarding, Information Governance and Health & Safety.
The Finance & Audit Subcommittee oversees the financial governance of the organisation to ensure financial sustainability and finance practices and procedures are maintained consistently to satisfy statutory and regulatory requirements.
We also ensure that trustees feel supported in their role and offer mentoring support to new trustees during their induction period.
At Lancashire Mind our work is positive and rewarding, with a passion for improving mental health and wellbeing shared across the organisation.

Volunteer with us and help transform support for the suicidal
In just three years, the number of people we support each year has increased from 2,000 to close to 5,000. To meet the growing demand for our award-winning service, we need more supervising volunteers. You’ll be selected after interview and training and spend at least three months as a listening volunteer before leading a shift.
Warmth, empathy, a belief in the power of non-judgmental, non-directive support for the suicidal and the ability to support and develop teams are essential. No mental health qualifications are required.
We ask for a regular four-hour shift a fortnight. Most vacancies are at our Hammersmith site, but openings also arise in Pimlico and King’s Cross.
You’ll be supported by experienced supervising volunteers and our volunteer management team, and you’ll be able to seek guidance from mental health professionals.
Our volunteers say joining TLP is one of the best things they’ve ever done:
‘This is a unique organisation, with unique people and a unique way of helping people. I have never felt better about my contribution to the community’
‘TLP has given me a renewed sense of purpose, positivity and community’

Share Psychotherapy is one of Sheffield’s leading mental health charities. Established for over 40 years we offer medium to long term therapy at nominal fees, primarily to people on low incomes. This therapy is delivered through a range of psychodynamic & creative modalities. We therefore work at the vital intersection of psychological distress & poverty in the city, providing high quality, long term therapy to people who could not otherwise obtain such help, especially those on low incomes.
Our clients are often experiencing serious mental and emotional distress, through anxiety, depression, difficulty with relationships or traumatic life events.
We are part way through a change process at Share - developing and strengthening our clinical services, improving our administrative and business systems and strengthening our financial position. We want to build upon our position as a centre of excellence in psychotherapy and make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield.
Would you like to help us in this venture? We are looking for people with specialist skills who are willing to help in a voluntary capacity; either as a trustee on our board, or as a specialist volunteer contributing on a project basis. We are willing to consider a wide range of contributions.
