Voluntary, Four days per year
Job description

Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is the leading maritime charity for youth development and lifelong learning. We inspire thousands of young people to achieve their potential through challenge and nautical adventure underpinned by the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy. We also enable current and future maritime professionals to realise their potential through learning and self-development.

Our work has a transformational impact on both individuals and the communities in which they live and work, positively affecting their life chances and benefiting their communities and society as a whole. Sea Cadets impacts more than 14,000 young people across the UK.

We are an ambitious charity looking to appoint a Trustee Committee Member with a strong financial or accounting background. Our Trustee Committee Members support the work of our Trustee group and those joining as a Committee Member often go on to become full Trustees over time, or a Chair for a specific committee.

As a Trustee Committee Member, you would sit on one or more of our Committees and provide critical input to the work of the trustees and the charity. We are looking for someone specifically to join the Finance, Audit, Remuneration and Investment (FIRA) committee plus one other committee. We are looking for applications from individuals with strong experience of financial management, most likely with a professional qualification as an accountant, who share our passion for making a tangible, positive impact to change lives. It is important we have a diverse mix on our board and therefore are looking to recruit committee members from a broad mix of backgrounds and experiences.

All committee members are expected to commit to:

  • Taking part in at least four meetings of each committee a year
  • Contributing to the work of the committee
  • Engaging and supporting specific projects involving your area(s) of particular expertise
  • Attending one or two MSSC public events including the AGM

For a recruitment pack with further information, please contact James Stephens at Morgan Law by following the apply instructions on this site.
