Job Description

We are looking for a number of people to work with our Country Manager in the Dominican Republic to support our projects.

Dates: 24th July - 28th August 2019

Many of our overseas staff have been on a Mission Direct trip - or something similar - as a volunteer and want to do more. Some join just to help run a couple of teams and some join for a whole campaign; others have gone on to move out to that country to support projects out there, or have started their own charity on the back of their experience. Whatever happens, the experience of being on staff team will change your life - and that of many others.

We have seen many people defeat the barriers of finances, fears and self-doubt to join a staff team and run projects and have witnessed the personal transformation that they experience; both personal and spiritual. As part of the staff team, you experience a different culture fully, witnessing the full extent of the need as well as building long and lasting relationships with partners and people involved in the projects. You'll see lives changed, hope renewed and a joy of life and faith like you've never known. You will change people, but they too will change you.

You'll work alongside our Regional Managers to shape our project focus in-country, supporting them in planning and recruiting the volunteer teams, running the volunteer team trips and ensuring the projects go to plan. You'll be visiting future projects, sampling the rest and relaxation trip element (which takes place at the end of our trips), joining the recce trip to scope out the upcoming project and help plan the volunteer teams' experience.

A typically staff team member role:

  • Support the country manager in-country by taking on various key roles such as project manager, finance manager, hospitality, partner visits, health & safety
  • Liaise with in-country partners regarding volunteer visits
  • Support volunteers while in-country
  • Be able to commit to staffing two or more volunteer teams
  • Organising distribution of aid
  • Pastoral and spiritual support
  • Keeping social media channels up to date with team activity and project progress
  • Speak at events on behalf of Mission Direct, helping to raise awareness, recruit volunteers and encourage funding
  • Attend orientation and debrief days
