Job description

We're seeking a new chair to lead our exciting community swimming venture into its fourth year & beyond, as this much loved & highly significant heritage building is restored. Working with a fantastic board of trustees, staff and volunteer team.

Moseley Road Baths CIO has now been operating for three years, and has developed a strong business model to thrive as a successful community pool and heritage venue. Successful fundraising and the commitment of staff and the community means that we are confident in rebuilding the enterprise post-Covid. We are anticipating some significant developments as the Baths project expands towards full renovation and a wider range of activities. The CIO is part of a supportive and highly engaged ‘coalition of the willing’ who are all working together and bringing skills, expertise and funding to the mix. The other coalition partners are Birmingham City Council, National Trust, Historic England, the World Monuments Fund and the Friends of Moseley Road Baths. Subject to funding, a seven year project will see our building restored to its former glory and our operations providing a greater range of wellbeing and cultural activities to a wider audience in a way that helps to sustain the building and contributes to the local economy.

We're looking for someone who shares our passion for and active commitment to Moseley Road Baths, with the skills to oversee and guide our transformation over the coming years, well supported by the time and expertise of other trustees. The successful person will have excellent people skills, and experience in medium to large partnership or restoration projects in heritage, leisure or culture.

This role is vital in our initiatives to save and develop Moseley Road Baths as a successful and lively community pool and heritage asset. To our beneficiaries across Balsall Heath and beyond, Moseley Road Baths is a wonderful source of recreation, relaxation, physical activity and happiness, a thriving volunteering opportunity, a focus for community pride, a local history lesson, a key location on Balsall Heath's high street, and a beautiful heritage building. You will know you have played a significant role in securing a future for a wonderful local and heritage asset. Being involved in MRBCIO is a very positive and rewarding experience with a really supportive and skilled board of trustees.
