About us
Care4Calais is a volunteer-based charity providing essential aid and support for refugees in France and the UK.
In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, providing warm clothing, bedding, food and assistance to refugees who live in appalling and dangerous conditions.
Across the UK we collect and distribute clothes, shoes, mobile phones and other essential items, as well as social support and interaction, including language lessons, sport and music workshops. We also help with vital access to legal, medical and educational services.
Our Legal Access Department is an access to justice project that exists to arrange critical legal representation for people seeking asylum and, more than this, to support people through the hostility and difficulty of claiming asylum. The department, made up mostly of volunteers, works tirelessly to ensure that people feel informed, empowered, and far less isolated and alone.
About the role
The aim of this role is to provide crucial one-to-one casework and support to people seeking asylum in the UK. Our Asylum Team assists asylum seekers in navigating the UK asylum process by finding them specialist solicitors and working with our volunteer interpreters to help them organise their paperwork. We currently work with 100+ legal firms around the UK, providing an invaluable service to both the asylum-seeker and the overstretched legal immigration teams. You’ll have the chance to gain broad experience of working in a fast-paced and experienced team while meeting the ever-changing needs of those we support. The Role
As a Legal Access Caseworker, you’ll focus on providing outstanding support to your clients throughout the complex asylum process.

Responsibilities

Manage own caseload of adult asylum seekers requiring legal representation to support their asylum claims and to challenge unsuitable accommodation, poor treatment, and uphold our client's rights.

Communicate effectively and sensitively with clients and refer to legal firms where appropriate.

Identify clients’ individual wellbeing needs and make onward referrals internally and externally in line with this. Provide emotional support to clients undertaking the process of claiming asylum in the UK.

Liaise with legal teams on behalf of clients where necessary.

Keep relevant records up to date to allow for quick and effective retrieval.

Attend and contribute meaningfully to team meetings.

Develop and maintain a network of key contacts within relevant authorities, legal teams dealing with immigration and public law matters, and other NGOs focused on support of refugees and people seeking asylum.

We are seeking Social Media Volunteers to assist our Social Media Marketing Team in creating and distributing engaging content on Hidayah’s social media platforms. Social media is integral to connecting with the Hidayah community, growing our organisational reach and promoting events such as our Queer Book Club, in-house research and educational resources for Ramadan.
We also use our social media platforms to post adverts for volunteers, promote Hidayah’s membership, respond to world news via solidarity statements and signpost LGBTQI+ Muslims to a range of national and international support.
You do not need to be LGBTQI+ or Muslim to be able to carry out this role. However, it is important to have a broad knowledge and understanding of these areas to be able to genuinely engage with the specific audience that follows Hidayah’s social media platforms.

Our Social Media Volunteers have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Creating and editing content to distribute across Hidayah’s social media platforms e.g. TikTok and Instagram

VOLUNTARY GRANT FUNDRAISER
Alex TLC is a trusted and experienced organisation offering support and information for all those affected by leukodystrophy. Leukodystrophies are rare genetic disorders that mainly affect the white matter of the central nervous system, (ie the brain or spinal cord). They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children. Leukodystrophies are usually degenerative, causing symptoms such as impaired mobility, vision, speech and hearing, incontinence, inability to swallow and loss of cognitive skills. In many cases, this sadly means a reduced or limited lifespan.
Established in 2004, we are recognised by the NHS and global stakeholders as the "go to" organisation for those affected by these devastating conditions in the UK.
Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to the recognised voice for leukodystrophy patients and their families. To fulfil our charitable objectives, we need to increase and sustain our grant income levels.

Our mission is to improve the personal, social, and emotional development of children with additional needs and disabilities in London. We do this by providing free, accessible, supported sports and activities through our weekly KEEN Club sessions.

We’re located a short walk from London King’s Cross station in a modern accessible building, overlooking Regent’s Canal.
Mynshull’s Educational Foundation is committed to improving the life-chances of young people from Manchester and Salford, so they can grow up to fulfil their potential. Through the provision of small grants, we aim to reduce the barriers that young people face to education, skills and training.
We provide funding for young people aged 25 or under to help them obtain equipment, uniforms or experiences that support them in starting or continuing their education or training. Some examples include grants towards the cost of school trips and residentials, text books, stationery, apprenticeship equipment such as tools, and musical instruments.
We are currently recruiting for trustees to join our board. The right candidate will understand the challenges faced by young people in Manchester and Salford; this may be through their own lived experiences or through professional experience, for example in education or health and social care. The successful candidate will be passionate about improving outcomes for young people. Previous experience of being a trustee is not essential to this role.

As a trustee you would be expected to attend a minimum of 4 board meetings (2 hours each) per year, as well as commit approximately 1 to 2 hours per month to reviewing applications for funding (this can be done remotely, online).

Every year, the private economy reaps $150 billion in illegal profit from human trafficking (Neithammer, 2020). An estimated 40 million individuals worldwide are lured into trafficking each year due to unemployment, debt, and desperation (Toney-Butler, Ladd, & Mittel, 2021). The majority of these individuals are women and girls (Toney-Butler, Ladd, & Mittel, 2021). Exploiters promise economic opportunities, job training, and financial assistance in exchange for labor, then they exploit workers through debt bondage and require free labor or even prostitution as a means of repayment (Polaris Project, 2015). Shyne is solely dedicated to career and professional development services for those who’ve experienced exploitation.
The organization tackles these challenges by providing survivors with opportunities for growth and self-sufficiency through career and business development initiatives. By equipping survivors with the skills and resources necessary to launch successful careers or businesses, Shyne not only provides immediate economic relief but also fosters long-term economic independence, thereby closing the wealth gap for survivors.
