London, Greater London (On-site)
Unpaid role, expenses paid
Voluntary
Job description

Opening Doors is the largest UK charity providing activities, events, information and support services specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, non-binary or gender fluid (LGBTQ+) people over 50.

This popular once-a-month Sunday event provides a great home-cooked lunch for members with a film and a chat afterwards and needs some extra volunteer support to help make Sunday lunch fun and enjoyable for members. The club is well attended by a good mix of current Opening Doors members from the LGBTQ+ communities and can get very busy. You would be working alongside the experienced volunteers who currently cook and/or support the group.

This is a support role to ensure the smooth running of each event. Volunteers work as a team to set up the event, cook and serve food, clear away dishes, and clear up at the end of the afternoon. Volunteers should be confident in making sure all members enjoy the event and where necessary gently encourage people to socialise with other members, especially if they are new to the group.  A Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety Certificate is required for this role.  If a successful candidate doesn’t have one we will supply an online link to one and reimburse associated costs.
