Our volunteers help us fund lifesaving science to improve the lives of families and loved ones living with heart and circulatory disease. If you can spare a few hours a week, or a couple of hours occasionally, we’d love you to join our volunteer team.
Are you calm, collected and happy to chat on the phone? Join the volunteer team at our new brislington furniture store. With support from the shop team, you will be the first point of contact for customers, helping them with any phone or online enquiries, arranging collections of donations via our local van teams and explaining our Gift Aid scheme. You will also be using our online collections request system to process online collection booking requests. This is a busy front of house role for those who like to be in the thick of it and makes a huge difference in helping us continue to fund lifesaving research.
Typical tasks include:
· Dealing with face-to-face, phone and online enquiries, supported by the team
· Reception and front of house duties, helping around the cashier desk
· Completing administration procedures accurately
· Arranging collections of donations via our local van teams

Do you want to help stop needless deaths from sepsis and help improve recovery of those affected by Sepsis. UKST are looking to recruit additional Trustees to its established Board
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that affects 245,000 people in the UK every year. At least 48,000 of those people lose their lives to the condition. We believe that earlier diagnosis and treatment across the UK would save thousands more lives a year.
The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) was founded in 2012. Founder and Executive Director, Dr Ron Daniels BEM, is an NHS Consultant in Intensive Care:
“We seek to save lives from sepsis, and improve outcomes for survivors, by educating healthcare professionals, raising public awareness, providing support for those affected by this devastating condition and political lobbying. We will protect people by enabling the prevention of severe infection and the treatment of sepsis, whist helping to ensure antibiotics are used responsibly.”
The UK Sepsis Trust has ambitious plans to increase awareness, educate wider networks beyond direct care health professionals and provide support to an ever-increasing population of survivors and bereaved. We are seeking to diversify the existing Trustee Board by gaining access to broader and deeper skills, backgrounds, and experiences. Our Trustees work in partnership with our Chairman and Chief Executives to ensure our resources are applied to maximum effect to achieve our purpose – through a clear vision and strategy, whilst exercising stewardship to operate an appropriate framework of governance.
We are particularly interested in candidates from various backgrounds including:
- Clinical/Sepsis
- Finance & Charity governance
- Corporate Fundraising engagement
- Digital, web and apps
Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include:
- Working with the Chairman, fellow Trustees and Management Team to ensure UKST’s cultural values and ethos are fully understood and adhered to throughout the organisation
- Encouraging team-working and collaboration across the charity’s activities including supporters and volunteers
- Along with fellow Trustees, making decisions that will best enable the charity to carry out its purposes. Contributing to balanced and informed decisions about the long term as well as the short-term requirements for UKST
- Ensuring the Charity’s assets and resources are only used to support it carrying out its purpose
- Providing ad hoc advice to the Management Team on specific topics relevant to their skills and knowledge
- Keeping up to date with Charity Commission legislation changes
- Continually monitoring the Trust’s progress to determine if strategic priorities need to be adjusted
Person Specification
- Significant leadership experience and commitment to our purpose
- Ability to drive organisational change and navigate growth
- Willingness and ability to understand responsibilities and liabilities as Trustees of a Charity
- Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement, and work effectively as a Board member

Time Commitment
The time commitment of the Trustees is variable but as a minimum they are required to attend the following:
- The Trustees have four formal meetings each year with the management team (2 of which are in person in either Birmingham/London).
- In addition there are four informal meetings with the management team along with regular Trustee only meetings which are all held virtually
- The Finance and Governance Trustee would also be required to attend four finance and audit committee meetings per year.

At Watford & Three Rivers Refugee Partnership, our objective is to provide practical and emotional support, ultimately helping our clients achieve a sustainable position as full members of our society. Many of our clients are destitute, homeless and have no access to assistance from the government. Our mission is to provide access to advice and essential services until statutory services are in place.
Volunteering at the Drop-In centre provides an opportunity for you to help our refugee clients with any issues they might have. We have sessions running every Tuesday between 11am and 1pm at St Mary’s Church, High Street, Watford. The Drop-In provides an opportunity for refugee clients to come and discuss any issues they have and to be listened to by one of our volunteers. Many of our clients are likely to have lived here for a while but an issue or crisis in their lives means that they need to discuss it and seek some help. They may also be in the process of seeking asylum. We can provide advice and sometimes resolve their issue there and then and at other times we refer them to another agency or invite them to come back once their issue has been looked into.
The Drop-In Centre could not function without our team of committed volunteers, and we are always looking for additional help.
Full training given on starting the role as well as regular training sessions and continual support from more experienced volunteers.
Responsibilities:
· Help with filling in forms and interpreting official documents.
· Liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies.
· Referring clients for follow up action by our Case Review Team and linking them with a befriender.
· Referring clients to our partner solicitor who specialises in immigration law and comes to the Drop-In 4th Tuesday of the month.
· Advice on how to access appropriate housing and free food in the area.
· Access to the charity’s other services, such as free English classes.
Requirements:
· Able to attend at least one Tuesday Drop-In a month.
· Complete training as required and attend bi-monthly volunteer support meetings.
Skills:
· An ability to communicate and empathise with people from a variety of backgrounds and needs.
· Basic IT skills.
· Assist clients in accessing essential services such as legal, housing, financial and food.
· Can work well as part of a team.
· Enthusiasm to help refugee clients.
Desirable experience:
· Previous volunteering experience.
· Previous experience working in a people-facing role.

We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the Dudley Group. As our local group Activities Organiser you’ll play a crucial role in developing and planning activities and events with your local group. You’ll be responsible for creating and coordinating an annual calendar of events and making sure they’re run safely and effectively to make the most impact. You’ll take a lead role at events on the day and inspire your fellow volunteers to get involved.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication, administration and negotiation skills.
Time commitment

Ensure that the Board fulfils its duties to ensure sound financial health of the charity, with systems in place to ensure financial accountability
Governance - Ensure that the governance arrangements are working in the most effective way for the Charity. Develop the knowledge and capability of the Board of Trustees and encourage positive change and where appropriate address and resolve any conflicts within the Board
External Relations - Act as an ambassador for the cause and the charity. Maintain close relationships with key stakeholders and with key influencers.
Efficiency and effectiveness - Chair meetings of the Board of Trustees effectively and efficiently, bringing impartiality and objectivity to the decision-making process. Ensure that Trustees are fully engaged and that decisions are taken in the best, long-term interests of the Charity and that the Board takes collective ownership.

Role
You will be picking up patients and bringing them in to ellenor for our Therapeutic Activity groups. We require patients to be brought in to the Hospice or to The Manor Hotel by 10:30am and returned to their own home at 3pm. You are not required to stay for the duration of the activity.
You may drive either your own vehicle or we will provide training to drive a company mini bus.
We also require driver escorts to help on the minibus too, who will assist patients on and off the bus for these activities.
Due to building works at the Hospice Northfleet, patients are currently attending the Best Western Manor Hotel, Gravesend.
Skills
Positive attitude and great people skills.
Full clean driving licence, if using your own vehicle you will need to produce documents for verification eg: MOT, Insurance.
If you wish to use the minibus, training will be provided by KCC, expenses for this will be covered but flexibility to attend will be required.
A DBS certificate will also be required for this role.
Online mandatory training will need to be completed.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The role of the Volunteer Barber is an important one to the charity as part of our confidence-building and resettlement efforts.
The role will suit someone who is a trainee or qualified barber or hairdresser, who can commit to 6 hours per month at our Health and Wellbeing days across South West London.
The volunteer will be mindful of how much a new appearance can increase the self-esteem of someone who is experiencing homelessness or is being resettled by SPEAR. They will enjoy developing positive relationships with new people and will be willing to work outside of their own comfort zone providing haircuts at no charge to SPEAR clients.
LOCATION/S: Our Health and Wellbeing days are held across Richmond, Kingston, Wandsworth, Merton and Sutton Boroughs. We hold approximately one Health and Well-being day per month in one of the above locations.
The volunteer must have an enhanced DBS background check (SPEAR will apply for this on your behalf.)
