If you live in or near to Bishops Stortford and are looking for a retail volunteer role or are passionate about books, this might be just the role you have been searching for and you will be joining thousands of Oxfam shop volunteers who 'won't live with poverty'

Who we are:

Oxfam Bishops Stortford Books and Music shop is opening at the end of July 2019 at 3-5a North Street. Our shop will trade 7 days a week 9.30-5 Monday to Saturday and 11-3 on Sundays.

If you are passionate about retail and customer service, join us at the outset alongside our new volunteer team.

What’s involved.....

BOOK VOLUNTEERS can be involved with any/all of the following:

  • Flexible 2-4 hours commitment during the week/weekends to suit your lifestyle with more hours available by arrangement
  • Shop presentation, including the tidying and replenishment of shop shelves
  • Customer service helping customers who donate or want to buy
  • Sorting donations received in the shop and helping to make the most of Gift Aided donations through Oxfam's gift aid scheme
  • Learning to use Oxfam's easy to use computerised till and Gift Aid tablet
  • Preparing donated books for sale in the shop
  • Keeping the shelves of any chosen category replenished and refreshed on the shop floor
  • Researching book titles and editions online

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Enthusiasm for volunteering in a retail environment alongside a new volunteer team
  • Interest in all types of books, old and new, fiction and non-fiction, rare and collectable
