(Arts-Crafts) Customer Support Volunteer- Unpaid position

Location:       Ipswich Leisure Service, Foundation Street, IP4 1BN

Hours:             Mondays (09:30-12:30) 2-3 hours per week, Wednesdays (09:30-12:30)

2-3 hours per week

 

WHO ARE WE ARE

Papworth Trust provides leisure, learning and work related opportunities to more than 1,000 disabled people. We support customers with physical and learning disabilities ranging from mild to moderate to more complex needs from five locations in the East of England. We work closely with our customers to offer the right blend of community and centre based opportunities aimed at helping people to achieve their personal goals. In addition, Papworth Trust provides support to customers within its other organisational services including care and housing.

We offer a rich and diverse programme of activities from our centre’s facilities in Ipswich and the wider communities of Suffolk and Essex. We’re passionate about what we do and work hard to get to know the individuals we support; their likes, interests, needs and dreams. We strive to deliver high quality sessions, adapting our focus, approach and session content in order to cater for varying needs and levels of ability.

 

WHERE WILL YOU FIT IN?

  • To assist in the delivery of arts and crafts group sessions of up to 6-8 customers of varying needs and abilities.

  • To support customers where needed in order to gain confidence and learn new art techniques.

  • Adapting techniques to suit customer interest and ability.

  • Assisting staff to plan and execute projects.

  • Using basic art and craft equipment and tools.

  • To support individuals on a 1:1 level on their own work and that of the group.

  • Support customers to achieve personal outcomes and work towards individual and group goals.

  • You are friendly and kind.

  • Sense of fun and creativity.

  • Enthusiasm and willingness to share and try new ideas.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Love of art, crafts, textiles and mixed media.

  • Experience and knowledge of art and craft techniques and a desire to share these with others.

  • Able to meet the requirements for a DBS check
