Job Description

Do you have the time, empathy and determination to help parents of missing and sexually exploited young people?

We are looking for an individual to support parents and carers that have children and young people who have gone missing and/or are at risk of sexual exploitation. We want to ensure that parents are able to better access support services, leading to an improved quality of life, mental and physical wellbeing and better life chances for their families. As a Parent Support volunteer, you will support project workers to build upon relationships with parents at the service, provide information about available provisions and provide assistance with planning informative sessions for parents. You will be a part of a friendly team who will provide full training and guidance for every aspect of the role.

Typical tasks include:

-Meeting regularly with the parents in order to provide tailored information regarding different support services they are able to access dependent on need.

-With guidance, plan supportive activities around issues identified by the parent and professionals working with them.

-Assisting project workers to plan, prepare and evaluate sessions to ensure they are engaging, enjoyable and rewarding for parents. Sessions will explore a range of topics such as child sexual exploitation and communication.

-Over time, developing trusting supportive relationships with parents/carers using the service

-Supporting the project workers in partnership with other agencies to keep young people safe.

-Helping staff to run awareness raising sessions around going missing and child sexual exploitation for parents

-Supporting the project workers in partnership with other agencies to keep young people safe by upholding policies and procedures of the service

-Keeping relevant records on attendees to the service

-Attending team meetings to ensure that you are kept up to date
