Job Description

Do you have a passion for health and wellbeing and are you keen to support Peabody in getting activities up and running at one of our care & support schemes? This is an exciting opportunity to be a vital link in our commitment to devloping healtheir and happy communities! You'll have the opportunity to introduce fun and exciting ideas for activities that'll promote social interaction and alleviate loneliness and isolation.

The Volunteer Activity Coordinator will support and facilitate socially focused activities and events for up to 75 customers. As a volunteer you will assist staff members & customers in delivering a range of timetabled activities/events that provide meaningful opportunities.  This can include researching and setting-up activities and events, securing accessible venues, taking a register of attendees, ordering refreshments, issuing travel expenses etc.

It will also be possible to organise and lead your own sessions with the support of staff under the guidance of your service supervisor, if you feel confident enough

Duties will include:

  • Work with staff/customers to plan and run activities that promote social interaction, health and wellbeing

  • Work with partner agencies and community groups to identify on going activities in the community

  • Work in conjunction with our internal teams to roll out workshops and a variety of activities

  • Design posters promoting activities/events

  • Promote activities/events to customers/staff and encourage participation in activities and/or events

  • Support the planning and delivery of the event and/or activity

  • Identify appropriate venues for activities

  • Respond to customers enquiries around activities and events

  • Manage the administration of activities including feedback forms

  • Shadow staff members to develop an understanding of the service and customer group, with the opportunity to learn more about support needs to match activities

  • Work with colleagues to manage risks to staff, customers and the community

  • In conjunction with staff members, risk assess each activity and potential venues

  • Entering and maintaining data and completing basic admin tasks

  • Attend team meetings

  • Attend training as identified by service supervisor

  • Attend regular one to one meetings with service supervisor

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attend Peabody mandatory induction

  • Attend one to one meetings with service supervisor

  • Treat people with respect and compassion, showing an understanding of the challenges our residents face

  • Familiarise yourself with customers (names, interests, preferences, etc.).

  • Promote independence and confidence with customers who lack motivation
