Job Description

Role: Chair of Finance and Audit Committee
Salary: Unremunerated
Location: London

Nacro is a successful, progressive, and impactful social justice charity working throughout England and Wales. With income of £60m and employing 1000 people we help the most vulnerable in our communities to turn their lives around and reach their full potential, addressing social exclusion, and inequality of opportunity. We house, we educate, we support, we advise and we speak out for and with disadvantaged young people and adults. We are passionate about changing lives and never give up.

Our ambition is to develop and grow and ensure we continue to provide outcome-focused and joined-up specialist services to disadvantaged young people and adults to help them to build positive futures and achieve their aspirations. Our current strategy will focus on developing strategic partnerships, promoting the voice of our service users to influence national and local policy, creating financial sustainability and ensuring we build a proud, expert and engaged workforce.

As we forge ahead with our strategic objectives, we now seek a Trustee with Finance expertise to join our Council, chair our Finance and Audit Committee and work alongside a very capable senior team to realise the next exciting phase of our journey. We are looking for an individual who is ideally financially qualified, commercially astute and has significant leadership experience in a finance role in a complex organisation. You will most likely have experience of operating as a Chair/Member of a Finance and Audit Committee and possess the intellectual rigour, scrutiny and abilities to provide robust financial oversight to ensure our continuing growth and longer term sustainability. Moreover, experience of and understanding of Defined Benefits pensions would be valuable.

We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of gender and ethnic group and we would especially encourage applications from women and BAME groups.

There are four Council meetings per year and one Away Day. All trustees are expected to join at least one Committee which meet five times a year. The time commitment is on average one day a month.
