About the role
Harper Adams Students’ Union is a £1.1m turnover independent charity that works to support the students of Harper Adams University, ranked as the number one university for Student Experience by Times Higher Education in 2018. We empower students, represent their voice and deliver a range of engaging sports clubs, societies and social events.
We have five staff, two sabbatical officers and a team of tireless student volunteers who support our work. Unlike most students’ unions, we generate almost all of our own income from our commercial services, events, clubs and societies. The flipside to our lean team and commercial achievements is the need to further enhance the power of student voice and develop the range of supportive services that many other students’ unions provide to their students. We have hired our first-ever Union Director last year and are about to launch our new strategy.
You will have the opportunity to help us deliver our new strategy, which will see us enhance our systems, services, and develop our governance.
Who we're looking for
We are open-minded about your background but it would be helpful to have experience in one of the following disciplines: HR, charity, students’ unions, marketing, income generation, and/or commercial.
We are open to you being a first-time Trustee if you are excited by our mission.
We will hold all meetings for the next 12 months digitally and have invested in specialist software to enable effective remote governance. We are open to moving to a digital board in the longer term and therefore welcome applications from anywhere in the UK.
Our board is not as diverse and representative as our student population, and we want to change this, so welcome applications from candidates from underrepresented groups.
If you are inspired by the job, we highly recommend you apply on Peridot's website via the application method on this site.
