Job description

A vacancy has arisen for an Access Officer to join the Pride Cymru team. You will be working with our Access Manager to ensure Pride Cymru continues to provide activities and events open to all, regardless of ability.

As a charity, our remit is to work for the promotion of the elimination of discrimination.
Whether this be on the grounds of sexual orientation, gender, race, religion and ability. We work towards this through our annual celebration of equality and diversity at Pride Cymru (historically known as Cardiff-Wales LGBT Mardi Gras).
Pride Cymru’s Big Weekend is one of only two Pride festivals in the UK to achieve Gold status on Attitude is Everything’s Charter of Best Practice following our commitment to delivering one of the UK’s most accessible Pride events for all to enjoy

But we cannot do this alone! Pride Cymru relies on the kindness, time and support of the volunteers to deliver our year-round activities (including our Big Weekend event), and make the event accessible to all!

Role responsibilities

  • Work with the Pride Cymru team to promote accessibility requirements throughout the event management process in line with Attitude is Everything’s Charter of Best Practice.
  • Promote Pride Cymru’s access achievements to stakeholders and to disabled people who may benefit from Pride Cymru’s year-round activities.
  • Identify and communicate with potential groups and organisations to help improve Pride Cymru’s access provision.
  • Develop and maintain records of Pride Cymru access activities in line with Attitude is Everything’s Charter of Best Practice.

Person Specification

This role does not require specific experience as the role will provide development opportunities where required; however, the person needs to understand the commitment required and that they will be a representative of Pride Cymru.

Whilst not a requirement, ideal candidates will be familiar with dealing with access requirements and supporting people with disabilities, whether in a personal or professional capacity.
