Refuge, an award-winning charity. We are recruiting peer mentor volunteers to provide high quality support to service users at the Redbridge VAWG Service. Your role will involve offering emotional and practical support to clients and helping them to reduce levels of isolation. It will also include answering calls and supporting the Redbridge VAWG Service staff with the daily duty system.
We are looking for female* peer mentor volunteers with strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to build good working relationships. You will be pro-active and organised with excellent administration skills and a capacity to work easily with people from a variety of backgrounds. An understanding of gender based violence and its impact on women and children is also desirable.
You must be able to commit to volunteering once or twice a week (Mondays to Fridays, 10am – 4pm) for 6 months. Successful peer mentor volunteers must be able to attend 100% of the compulsory 3 days training. The mandatory training programme will take place on the following dates:
Wednesday 22nd April 2020, Thursday 23rd April 2020 and Friday 24th April 2020.
