Job Description

About the opportunity

We are recruiting two child care or play assistant volunteers to help at our Outreach project. The role includes looking after small children, aged 0-3 and facilitating activities for them. This role also includes setting up the drop-in along with staff, and cleaning up at the end of the drop-in.

About Refugee Women Connect

Refugee Women Connect is a charity that provides support for women refugees and asylum seekers including pre and post natal women and their babies, victims of sexual violence, trafficking, domestic slavery and human rights abuses. We so this by providing twice weekly drop-in groups. Our drop-in project aims to provide a safe and supportive space for women and their children, where they can access peer support and develop social contacts and friendship. We provide a warm, nutritious meal enjoyed in the company of other women and their children. Any woman who is an asylum seeker or refugee in the Merseyside area can access our services. We aim to support our service users in a practical holistic way, working in a non judgemental manner and respecting each individual’s uniqueness and diversity.

What are they looking for?

We are looking for two out-going volunteers who are not afraid to be friendly and coordinate a range of activities with children. We would like someone with experience in child-care or working with children across a range of activities.

Practical Considerations

We are a women's only charity due to the nature of the work we do, so only women are eligible to apply for volunteering opportunities. This role requires you to be able to commit to the hours as discussed in the interview, and the day of the week you need to be available would be a Tuesday or Friday, so please bear that in mind when applying. The drop-in will run on Tuesdays and Fridays, in the L8/L6 area. Tuesday sessions will run from 10AM TILL 130PM and OR Fridays 1030AM TILL 2PM.
