Relate West Surrey is a Federated Charity and as such the Chair has resposibilities for overseeing the the local independent Charity whilst also representing it at national level. The role looks for good leadership of a Board of 8 Trustees with wide ranging backgrounds and to promote good and effective decision making and accountability. The daily running of the Charity is the responsibity of the CEO who reports to the Board through the Chair. The Chair is responsible for ensuring the organisation complies with its governing documents, chairty law, company law and relevant legislation. The role must enable fellow Trustees  to give firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets. The Chair has a role in safeguarding the name and reputation of the Charity and for ensuring the organisation has financial stabilty. The Chair meets once a month with the CEO outside of formal meetings to provide opporutnity for any issues to be raised and to provide support
