Job description

Are you an experienced careers advisor, recruiter, HR professional, or educator passionate about equipping young people with the skills they need for the world of work? Do you thrive on designing practical, engaging, and impactful employability programmes?

REMIX is a dynamic new charity on a mission to "remix young lives" from disadvantaged backgrounds across London. We aim to guide, mentor, and inspire young people through positive role modelling, comprehensive personal development, and vital employability skills. We're currently in our crucial set-up phase, and need your expertise to craft the transformative programmes that will unlock career opportunities.

We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer for the role of Employability Programme Developer to design our core training curriculum. This is an incredible opportunity to apply your professional experience to a meaningful social cause, creating the engaging content that will teach, guide, and empower young people towards sustainable employment and a brighter future.

Who We're Looking For

We need a practical, insightful, and results-oriented individual with a strong background in careers development, recruitment, or vocational training. You'll likely possess:

  • Curriculum Development Expertise: Proven experience in designing, developing, and structuring practical workshops or training modules focused on employability skills.

  • Industry & Market Knowledge: Up-to-date understanding of current job market trends, recruitment processes, and the skills employers seek, particularly in London.

  • Practical Skill Focus: Ability to translate complex concepts into actionable, hands-on learning experiences (e.g., mock interviews, CV clinics, networking practice).

  • Youth Engagement Skills: Experience in creating content that is engaging, relevant, and inspiring for diverse young people (ideally aged 16-25).

  • Monitoring & Evaluation Awareness: Ability to design programmes with clear, measurable learning outcomes related to employment readiness and progression.

  • Collaboration & Adaptability: Eagerness to work with Trustees, future mentors, and other volunteers to ensure programme relevance and delivery.

  • Passion for Social Change: A genuine commitment to REMIX's mission and empowering young people out of poverty.

Your Role as Employability Programme Developer

In this vital set-up phase, you will be instrumental in:

  • Designing the Employability Curriculum: Creating the structure, content, and activities for a practical and impactful programme focusing on job readiness. This includes:

    • CV & Cover Letter Workshops: Guiding young people on how to create compelling application materials.

    • Interview Skills Training: Practical sessions on preparation, common questions, and professional conduct.

    • Career Exploration: Modules to help young people identify interests, research industries, and understand different pathways (e.g., apprenticeships, vocational training, higher education).

    • Networking & Professional Conduct: Sessions on building connections, digital presence, and workplace etiquette.

    • Job Search Strategies: Practical advice on finding opportunities, using job boards, and cold outreach.

  • Developing Engaging Materials: Crafting clear guides, exercises, and resources for participants and future facilitators.

  • Defining Learning Outcomes: Establishing clear, measurable objectives for the programme to track progress towards employment or further training.

  • Integrating Best Practices: Ensuring the programme reflects current best practices in careers guidance and employer expectations.

  • Collaboration with Partners (Initial thought): Considering how the programme can facilitate connections with businesses for work experience or job placements.

What We Offer

  • The incredible opportunity to design a core programme that directly addresses a critical barrier to social mobility for young people.

  • An unparalleled chance to apply your professional experience to a profound social cause, seeing your ideas directly open doors to employment.

  • Collaboration with a passionate and strategic Board of Trustees and the founding team.

  • The deep satisfaction of knowing you are creating tangible pathways to independence and economic empowerment for London's disadvantaged youth.

This is a voluntary role, requiring an estimated commitment of approximately a period of 3-6 months to help us build this crucial programme. We are flexible and can work around your availability, including managing your own workload and time.

Ready to Build Pathways to Success with REMIX?

If you are a practical, insightful, and experienced professional eager to empower young people with vital employability skills, we'd love to hear from you.

Help us design the pathways that will truly "remix young lives" and unlock their career potential across London!
